Brewed by:
Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan

Style: Munich Helles Lager

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.10%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, “Original”, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine poured, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Serving Type - 16.9oz bottle

Appearance - Light mellow yellow, golden yellow, nice foamy 2 inch head with some nice lacing.

Smell - German malts, lemon, banana, Sweet yeasts, grassy floral notes, apples, minor hop aroma at the finish.

Taste - Very crisp bite of floral hops, german malts and yeasts at first sip. Plenty of flavors such as apples, lemons, grapes and honey. Has a grassy and floral hop flavor. Yeasts are nice and sweet, and add balance. A little caramel malt comes out in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Malts and light hops coat the tongue. Palate gets more hops and malts, lots of lemon, banana and yeasts. Aftertaste is light, crisp and malty.

Overall - Does a helles get any better then this? Smooth, balanced, flavorful and very enjoyable. World class and a must try not only for the style, but because its a wonderful beer.

This beer looks amazing in the sunlight. Not much for a head but the beer is crystal clear and gold in color. The amazing part is the perfectly visible rising strings of bubbles. Aroma is full of crisp crackery grains and doughy bread. Zesty, floral, and spicy with perfect, slightly sweetned lemon. Next is taste. Flavors are an excellent reprise of the aroma. Crisp and dry crackers, a kiss of lemon, delicious deep and perky spice, some kind of almost herbal floral... Awesome beer right here. Super dry and grainy feel as well as chewy. Faaaantastic.
