Style: Munich Helles Lager

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.10%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
A good beer takes its time. The long storage makes our yellow bright lager, “Original”, a flavourful beer enjoyed with fine poured, white foam. With a mild hoppy note and its pleasant fresh spicy taste, it goes very well with salads, poultry, stews or with a hearty snack. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

A: Pours a pale golden caramel hue. A medium thickness foamy head forms quickly and sticks around for most of the session, leaving some surprisingly nice lacing.

S: Kind of dull. Mild citrus and white bread mostly, with a bit of grass and a little of that subtle acetone aroma german lagers tend to have.

T: In a word - Clean. Nice dryness upfront, then a lightly toasted bread and finishing with a nice slightly lemony hops. The very short finish leaves you wanting to sip this dangerously fast.

M: Effervescent, almost champagne-like. Really pleasant how light and carbonated this feels paired with the dry, clean flavor.

O: A good brew for a hot day. The super clean, dry flavor and lively mouthfeel makes this very refreshing, despite the disappointing nose. A good, solid brew for refreshment, but not much else.

Brilliant medium straw color with yellow hues. Bright white thin head that dissipates quickly. Very little lacing in the glass.

Lemon peel, coriander, celery seed, white button mushrooms, saltine crackers and a slight whiff of ammonia.

Lemon zest, white bread, melba toast, cilantro and a very light bitterness in the finish, but balanced.

Medium bodied with a slightly watery texture. Medium length, well carbonated and clean on the finish.

Very easy drinking and sessionable.
