A- Pours a nice cloudy amber orange with a large white head of 3 fingers which settles down a bit. Lacing stays throughout.

S- Smells really nice, exactly what you would expect of this style. Wheat, yeast, and the banana and light spiciness. I also detected a smoky burnt wood aroma. Aromas combine together very well in a balanced mix.

T- Tastes similar to how it smells, but definitely not as bold in flavor as I would have expected. Very nice balance again overall.

D- Goes down easy with a light body, yet with plenty of flavor. Carbonation is light.

Overall, I would definitely drink another of these.

Pours a creamy caramel brown with a thick frothy off-white head. I poured the yeast in with it for the full hefe character, so it was quite cloudy. Not a bad thing at all in my book.

Fantastic rich and aromatic nose. Smells like sweet tomatoes with citrus fruit, herbs, a touch of cloves and bananas. There's a siltiness in there, even. Overall, there's layer after layer. A very nice nose.

Sweet initial flavour flettens out to a savoury taste of bread, finishing with a frefreshing bitter tang. A wonderful hefe. It's really pleasant and refreshing. It has a great deal of rich complexity for something with a relatively standard ABV. The advantage of that is that is supremely drinkable.

An excellent beer, one of the best hefes, and probably one of the best wheat beers.

A: Pours hazy orange with thick 2 finger head, not really sticking to glass at it rests.

S: Damned delicious, wheaty with nice yeast aroma. My mouth is watering.

T: Smooth, really floral-wheaty. Fruity: bananas, with a nice bready yeast aftertaste.

M: Slightly watery initially, then accented by nice carbonation toward the end, tickling the tongue.

D: So help me if I can find these pint bottles for $2.50-$3 on the way to the beach, summer beer all the way.

This beer poured a cloudy yellow with orange highlights and a a big fluffy head. The smell is sweet and yeasty, with some of the wheat character coming through as well as a bit of citrus and spiciness. The taste starts off with some sweet wheat malt that gives way to a hint of lemon that goes into a mix of spiciness and a tiny bit of hops to balance. This is what a hefe should taste like. The mouthfeel is slightly thick with some fine carbonation. This is a great beer for a warm night or anytime at all. Definitely a benchmark setting hefeweizen, one that all others you try end up being compared to.

Poured from a 16.9 oz. bottle into my Blue Moon

a - Pours a murky golden color with high carbonation and over 3 fingers of white head with decent rentention.

s - Smells of bananas, cloves, yeast, and spice.

t - Taste is subtle bananas and maybe some other sweet fruits, as well as wheat and bready malts. Little bit of spice.

m - High carbonation and light body.

d - I thought this was a great hefeweizen. Usually not one of my favorite styles, this might be the best one I've had. Great smell and taste and very drinkable, the only thing that hurts it at all is the high carbonation. Love the fact that it is relatively cheap and easy to get at Whole Foods too. Will definitely have again and would recommend checking out.

This is the first heffeweizen I have had with the intent or rating/tasting/savoring the flavor and I am very impressed. The apprearance is slightly hazy as most wheats are. It is a dark straw color. There is a large, foamy head with great body. The smell is clovey and yeasty but quite subtle. As the beer warms, the yeast and clove smell and taste are more pronounced but very well balanced with the overall flavor of the beer. The mouthfeel is great. Slightly tingy and very comfortable. This is a very drinkable beer. I think it would be perfect during a hot summer day at Wrigley or Fenway with a loaded roast beef sandwich or even a Philly Cheese Steak sandwich. Ahhh, how relaxing.

My favorite beer of all time. A must try for all beer lovers. Taste wonderful straight from the 6pack bottles or poured into your massive haufbrauhaus glass that has been sitting in your deep freezer at -10 defrees. One of the best things about this beer is how good it taste even when not freezing cold. Unlike alot of cheap skunky american beers, this beer remains delicious even after it loses its just from the fridge temp. I usually grab 2 cold 6packs from whole foods. Or if i don't feel like driving 30 minutes i'll stop into greens beverage to grab a couple room temp 6packs. Lovely beer for all occasions from grilling out to relaxing and watching a baseball game on tv! get some and enjoy!

Poured into a tall weizen glass. Big bright white head, probably close to two full inches. Lightly cloudy amber body. Strong wheat aroma with heavy phenolic character. Extremely smooth with a robust banana clove flavor. Taste similar to Schneider Weiss but slightly different. Very refreshing mouthfeel that balances the palate with a slightly hoppy finish. Exceptional drinkability.

Overall, I've also heard a lot about this beer before trying it out. It definitely holds up its reputations as one of the best bavarian hefeweizens out there.

Poured into my San Diego Padres (a gift) pilsner glass and a nice pale yellow/gold color radiates with a nice massive two-finger bubbly off-white head...which dissolves but never leaves.

There is a great light popping sound as the head lowers. Rice Krispies?

A fruity smell with hints of pears, bananas, grapes and others.

Great taste again from this awesome brewery. Smooth, silky and creamy. Goes down smooth with just a touch of a spicy kick after the swallow.

The lower alcohol makes this an easy drinking beer with multiple consumption allowed.

Very well done and highly recommended.

A: Full two fingers of foam, light tight bubbled head that drops to reveal some spotty lacing, light gold to medium yellow in color, some sediment is visible in the beer – 4.50, S: True to the style, the nose has loads of banana and clove with a light and fruity sweetness that reminds me of mountain papaya and bubblegum – 5.00, T: Tastes like lemon and clove, mildly tart and crisp, some yeastiness and biscuits, wheat is obvious and with a touch of spice – 4.25, M: Light and effervescent body – 4.00, D: Extremely drinkable and spot on to the style, nice all around – 4.00

A - Very cloudy with the color of lemon juice and whisky. A small head that dissipates quickly leaving no lacing behind.

S - Lemon, banana, cloves, grapefruit, wheat - a very yeasty aroma.

T - A light lemon and wheat flavor with a touch of sweetness. Aftertaste is a light citrus with a touch of malt. Very mellow.

M - Frothy, viscous, the tiniest bit of harshness from carbonation, the lord of refreshment.

D - I think this bottle might have gone awry. I have this before and it was unspeakably fantastic. This time it was just excellent. I have had it many times before and will have many times again. It is sessionable, food pairable, perfect for any and all situations. The gold standard of hefeweizens. After all, with nearly a millenia of brewing expertise under their belts, it is safe to assume that Weihenstephan can do their flagship beer correctly.

Tawny golden orange color, full head that actually disappeared from my glass... perhaps I need to wash my glasses better. This is a full, thick hefe-weizen. Not heavy, but not as light and frothy as some others you will find - this is in the realm of Schneider Weisse, a bit more serious than some Paulaners and Franziskaners you will find. Truly wonderful, bread-crust maltiness is set afloat by banana flavors coming from the yeast. A nice balance. Hops come at the finish and round the beer out in an incredibly appetizing way, coaxing you to take another sip. The fresh champagne sparkle and chewy mouthfeel sets this beer into the stratosphere. Top notch hefe.

This German hefeweiss pours a hazy golden color with a huge, pillowy white head sitting atop the liquid. Head retention is superior, as excellent lace appears down the glass. Smell is that of a traditional German hefe -- banana, clove, hops, yeast, and assorted spices on which I can't put my finger. Taste is very nice with notes of clove and assorted spiciness, while a bit of hop flavor kicks in on the finish. While mild carbonation permeates the mouth, this is an incredibly smooth brew. Drinks as well as any hefe I've tried, too. Perfect for the summer. This is the best bottled German hefe I've tried thus far. Tap could be another story, but that will have to wait for another day. Very well done.

A: Poured a cloudy lemony orange color with big white fluffy head.

S: a nice yeasty aroma and spiciness full of bananas, lemons, bubblegum, and dry wheat.

T: The flavor was big and spicy upfront with some citrus, lemons, oranges and a spicy hop tang (Saaz?). Smooth with great spiciness that lingers from start to finish of bananas, cloves and a light citrus hopping.

M: creamy, with a moderate carbonation and finished dry.

D: Great drinkability per style, refreshing, and one that's hard to put down inbetween sips. Must try.

Poured a cloudy light orange with copious off white head and ample lacing. Smells of esters, bubblegum, citrus, light notes of malt. Sweet malts forward with a pleasant citrus zing, banana, cloves around mid-note with a pleasant clean finish – minimal hops or astringency. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with fair amount of carbonation – not syrupy and has a rather clean finish.
Overall , the ideal beer on a hot summer’s day – or between runs on a ski slope in Germany. A classic hefe that I go to again and again. Solid. I have yet to find an equivalent American version. . . If you enjoy this beer – check out their Vitus weizenbock – its even better (I like to think of it as an Imperial Hefe)

Poured into a hefe glass. Appearance is very cloudy light amber with a ridiculous 3-finger frothy head. A 1-finger head remnant stays througout. Minimal lacing.

The smell is made up of apple, wheat, pears, cloves, and vanilla; very enticing. The taste is somewhat muted, but lemon esters, pears, cloves, vanilla, and some earthiness shine through. The earthy quality reminds me of a saison. Mouthfeel is very carbonated & acidic at first, but quickly becomes smooth & almost thick.

This is an incredibly drinkable hefeweizen. Braurei Weihenstephan has been around almost 1000 years, so they obviously know what they are doing.
