Arguably the best hefeweizen in the world, this beer is readily available and affordable where I live. I would not worry too much about the freshness factor, as this beer ages remarkably well for the style. I have had it on tap both in Germany and the U.S. and have had many bottles in the U.S. Never a let down. The darker and stronger versions are also great, as are the lagers from this masterful brewery.

12oz bottle split with my girlfriend. Poured into my Three Philosophers snifter.

Pours a gorgeous hazy golden shade capped with a massive, pillowy three-finger head. Solid retention on the head, which gradually subsides to a quarter-finger film atop the beer. Spotty but clingy lacing.

In the nose, a potent banana note reigns supreme, with subtler (but still not particularly subtle) notes of clove, bready yeast, and wheat supporting the dominant banana note. A light, sweetish lemon note as well, more lemon meringue than lemon itself.

In the mouth, lemony notes mingle with banana and fleeting clove on the front of the palate, while light bready and yeasty notes dominate mid-palate. Becomes increasingly dry as the beer reaches the back of the palate, finishing quite dry and rather spicy. Feels more like a wit than a hefe in that regard...or perhaps I simply haven't been drinking the right hefes.

On the tongue, crisp, light, dry, and effervescent. ABV is all but unnoticeable, though it does lend a certain warmth towards the back of the palate and lingers in the aftertaste.

On the whole, this is truly deserving of its place among the top 250. While wits and hefes may never be my favorite style, I can absolutely understand the praise for this particular one.

Such a superb Hefe. The smell will make you feel like you are running thru a wheat field in spring time.An off white head that held all the way till the end.Ofcourse being a Hefe it was unfiltered,it was like trying to see thru fog on a cold Bay Area morning. The taste will have your taste buds wanting more with every sip you take.

Overall, I would highly recommend to all that love Hefe/Wit beers. You can't go wrong with was is so right.

Ok America, just stop trying to brew hefeweizens because you will not be able to touch this one. I am an IPA person myself and I saw the great reviews for this beer and it lived up to every expectation of its hype.

It will definitely be a summertime favorite for me, as it is unmatched by any other hefeweizen. The taste and feel of this beer is superb. You do not get too much wheat from this beer, the flavors are surprisingly complex and balanced at the same time.

Highly recommend, if you like wheat/hefeweizen beer this is exactly what you need.
