Style: Kristalweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head. Smells of wheat and spices. Tastes of slight banana, spices, and yeast. Light body with low carbonation. Good wheat beer, just very different than the typical ones.

Bubbly head with straw body and deliciously carbonated. Smells of banana similar to the smell of GI Sophie but taste not so much. Although taste is still pleasantly flavored with malt, cloves, grass, and bananas. Overall good as for it may be the 1st of this kind and it serves as a base beer but GI Sophie and Bornem Triple just knock it out of the water, but still this is quite drinkable.

Pale yellow, vibrant carbonation. Aroma has banana and lighter ester spice with some clean yeast & malt. Classic light German malt foundation, very crisp golden malt and wheat, with the banana / esters acting as a supporting note that never overasserts itself. Mouthfeel starts pretty bubbly but doesn't flatten pretty quickly.

Appearance: Crystal clear appearance with a light golden shimmer. Almost as light as an american light beer but still stands out a slightly darker shade
Smell: Whiff of clove, banana, and sweet citrus gives an appealing presentation to the kristall wiesbier.
Taste: Great combination of crisp and sweet flavor. Beer does a fantastic job grabbing its complexities of flavors. Between the alcohol esters, citrus crispness, and banana clove sweetness, this is is one of my favorite flavored combinations
Feel: Terrific light to moderate feel. Transparent appearance hides its light sticky and tasty feel. An incredible easy and enjoyable beer to drink. Never too full but still carries a sticky and lasting taste in my mouth.
Overall: In all honesty, one of my 5 favorite beers to drink. The only beer I enjoy as much as of now are Duvel, Tripel Karmeliet, Weihnesthephan Vitus, and Westmalle Tripel. This beer does everything for you that you could possibly ask for in a beer.

16.9 oz. bottle

Pours clear straw yellow gold with a creamy frothy white foam head. Smells like bananas, banana bread, bubblegum, clove spice, lemon, apple, pear, bready crackery wheat, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Tastes like banana, bubblegum, raisins, clove spice, lemon, apple, pear, bready crackery wheat, with floral earthy herbal grassy pine. Feels medium bodied, creamy with moderate carbonation. Overall a real nice kristalweizen.

From a bottle, pours as an amazingly clear straw color with a pure white foamy head. Aroma is light like a pilsner with a hint of banana. Lots of flavors again bananas, spice like cloves, yeast, and sweet malts. Hops is quite secondary. Overall there is a pleasant creaminess coupled with plentiful carbonation.

The champagne version of weissbeer. High carbonation with the same solid weissbeer flavor of banana, cloves, bubblegum, and wheat. A fine option but I prefer the regular weissbeer for the full body and taste. However if you're looking for a wheat beer to pair with food, this is an excellent option.

Weihenstephaner Kristall Weissbier, 5.4% ABV, 14 IBU. Pours thin and light gold, with a three finger white foamy head on a careful pour, leaves some foamy lacing. Nose is malt, bananas and freshness, taste is malt and slight banana, with a slight bitter close. Excellent mouthfeel in spite of heavy carbonation, and overall excellent.

Poured from a 0.9 ounce bottle into a Shaker pint glass, there is no "best by" date that I can find.

APPEARANCE: pours a clear, light-gold color with two-finger white head and excellent retention, the head never went away, highly carbonated, significant lacing on the glass, beautiful.

SMELL: bread, banana and an earthy note.

TASTE: the taste follows the nose, bread and banana then an earthy note.

PALATE: medium body and higher than average carbonation.

OVERALL: this is a very unusual style of beer, it's a filtered wheat beer that has been highly carbonated, that might be a bit oversimplified but you get the picture, anyway I really liked it and would recommend to anyone who enjoys wheat beer.

I had not had a beer I couldn't reliably pronounce until this beer. It's clarity was crystal clear; hence the krystall part of the name.
This is a very easy beer to drink; especially when cold. It pairs well with greasy American food well.
This is great go-to beer.
