Style: Kristalweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Picked up a 500 ml bottle in late July from TW Arrowhead for $3.79. Bottle Code 2026 08:34:22

Beer poured straw yellow with a beautiful billowy white head that left lacing behind.

Nose is very nice, fruity esters great you with hints of banana taking control.

Taste is clean with banana impartations from the wonderful yeast strain the brewery uses over a wheat base, So easy to drink yet so flavorful.

Feel is light to medium bodied and fairly refreshing,

Overall a delightful beer that i highly recommend if you are looking for something on the lighter side of the spectrum!

Had on tap at Max's Tavern in Baltimore. A fairly light yellow golden, "kristal" clear, highly bubbly beautiful beer with a nice foamy head. Smells subtly spicy and fruity and very sweet, with some malty notes as well. This is probably the "cleanest" tasting beer I've ever had, it seems so pure and exact, like everything is exactly in its place and balanced. Like a hefeweizen had a child with a pilsner or a kolsch: it's crisp and malty and slightly hoppy and smooth and sweet. The feel is near perfect for the flavor, it's light and refreshing and goes perfect with a meal. Overall this is one of my favorite beers of all time and proves once again the mastery of Weihenstephaner.

Pours a clear, pale yellow straw in color with a finger of fluffy, white head. Aroma is soft wheat, banana, some clove. Taste mirrors the aroma, good balance of the typical weissbier flavors. Great mouthfeel, medium+ body and moderate-high carbonation yield a fluffy mouthfeel. Solid beer, quite tasty and easy drinking.

Had it on tap at Dacha Beer House, DC in a 0.5L Weihenstephaner glass
Bright yellow, with a good head. Very lively, and totally clear, as expected of a Kristallweissen.
Very malty and raw, with a good amount of hop. Very clean and crisp.
A very good brew and very refreshing, but I prefer its cousin the Hefeweizen more.

All kinds of yellow all over this one with a 2/5" white head and good retention. Aroma of straw and barley.

Taste is clean, fitting for style. Stays away from those spice rack and clove issues, relatively clean yeast flavors. Light mouthfeel. Expensive format for not much ingredients.

Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier |
Brewed by Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, with an ABV of 5.40% This brew pours out a golden amber color with a nice white head. The smell of Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier is rich with grins and malts. There is some other earth tones and hops in the smell of this brew. You may also pick up on some skunked smell in this brew. Now for the taste, it is bold with flavors and sweetness. There is a lot going on in this brew. First you pick up on the earthly grains and malts then the smooth slight bitterness of hops. Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier goes down nice and smooth, I can't get over how smooth this brew is. There is nothing overpowering about Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier, this brew has a super nice balance to it. This is a nice fine smooth drinking brew. The mouthfeel of this brew is Rich, Bold, Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier 4.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan did a real nice job with this brew.

An amazing lager. An exemplary specimen of the style. Light, beautiful, foamy, and "Kristall" clear. It is achieved by a scientific brewing process continuously analyzed by chemical labs on the Weisenstephaner campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). It is deliciously balanced, and the mellow yeast add apparent banana flavor. Hats off!

L - 4.75 pours a clear golden body with carbonation consistently bubbling up from the bottom of the glass. Thick white lingering head.
S - 3.5 typical European lager aroma. Kinda skunky and yeasty which isn't typically appealing to me
T - 4.75 nothing like the aroma. A light Hefeweizen. Banana, clove, bready, yeast
F - 4.75 super light beer. Light coat to the palate. Perfect carbonation
O - 4.5 fist beer I've had of this style. Really enjoyed it. Great for summer. I can enjoy a 6 pack of these on a hot summer day. Once again weihenstephaner doesn't disappoint. Great beer from a great brewery!
