Style: Kristalweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Had it on tap at Dacha Beer House, DC in a 0.5L Weihenstephaner glass
Bright yellow, with a good head. Very lively, and totally clear, as expected of a Kristallweissen.
Very malty and raw, with a good amount of hop. Very clean and crisp.
A very good brew and very refreshing, but I prefer its cousin the Hefeweizen more.

All kinds of yellow all over this one with a 2/5" white head and good retention. Aroma of straw and barley.

Taste is clean, fitting for style. Stays away from those spice rack and clove issues, relatively clean yeast flavors. Light mouthfeel. Expensive format for not much ingredients.

Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier |
Brewed by Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan, with an ABV of 5.40% This brew pours out a golden amber color with a nice white head. The smell of Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier is rich with grins and malts. There is some other earth tones and hops in the smell of this brew. You may also pick up on some skunked smell in this brew. Now for the taste, it is bold with flavors and sweetness. There is a lot going on in this brew. First you pick up on the earthly grains and malts then the smooth slight bitterness of hops. Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier goes down nice and smooth, I can't get over how smooth this brew is. There is nothing overpowering about Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier, this brew has a super nice balance to it. This is a nice fine smooth drinking brew. The mouthfeel of this brew is Rich, Bold, Clean, Smooth, and Refreshing. Overall I'm giving Weihenstephaner Kristallweissbier 4.25 out of 5. I would buy this brew again. Bayerische Staatsbrauerei Weihenstephan did a real nice job with this brew.

An amazing lager. An exemplary specimen of the style. Light, beautiful, foamy, and "Kristall" clear. It is achieved by a scientific brewing process continuously analyzed by chemical labs on the Weisenstephaner campus of the Technical University of Munich (TUM). It is deliciously balanced, and the mellow yeast add apparent banana flavor. Hats off!

L - 4.75 pours a clear golden body with carbonation consistently bubbling up from the bottom of the glass. Thick white lingering head.
S - 3.5 typical European lager aroma. Kinda skunky and yeasty which isn't typically appealing to me
T - 4.75 nothing like the aroma. A light Hefeweizen. Banana, clove, bready, yeast
F - 4.75 super light beer. Light coat to the palate. Perfect carbonation
O - 4.5 fist beer I've had of this style. Really enjoyed it. Great for summer. I can enjoy a 6 pack of these on a hot summer day. Once again weihenstephaner doesn't disappoint. Great beer from a great brewery!

Appears bright yellow and clear with a tall white, bubbly head.

The aroma is very lemony. Some banana peel is present too.

The taste is mostly fresh lemon zest and banana. There's also that nice lager taste, and just the right amount of malt. Some wheat and bight fruits come through too.

The beer has a lighter mouth feel and a fair amount of carbonation. The balance on the mouth feel is just right - not too light but not too heavy.

Overall, this is, if not better than, exactly what you'd expect from an awesome German lager. It's a unique style and Weihenstephaner did an excellent job.

Bottled April 15th.

Pours a crystal clear straw yellow with an impressive head of foam that has good longevity.

Spicy spicy nose with notes of coriander and clove. .could make a fine perfume out of that!

Coriander, cloves, a bit of pepper, lemon zest. ..finishes dry with medium to medium high carbonation.

Well, what a bloody treat this is!!!

My first beer of the style. I like it because you have the same ester character as a hefe but more subtle. It's quite drinkable even if the clove notes can be a bit cloying

Bottle pour. Very clear with a one finger head. While I enjoyed this beer, I prefer their regular Hefeweizen. The taste of the Kristalweizen was a little too subdued.

To my knowledge, this is my first time drinking this style; certainly the first time reviewing it.
It poured a light straw color with a big foam head. It had fruity aromas that were slightly citric and even tart at first. Then, soft Hefeweizen like tones of banana and bubble gum come out. Likewise, the taste is initially sweet and with banana like flavors. However, the finish is clean and mineral water like.
Light bodied and refreshing.
I hope I did the style justice with this review. It's like a lighter Hefeweizen.
