Style: German Kristalweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

500 mL bottle. Clear golden body. Big white head. Smells of wheat and banana esters. Tastes of strong wheat graininess and yeasty fruitiness. Bananas and spicy finish. Medium light. Well carbonated. Like a light hefeweizen. Good, but not my thing.

On tap at Speiskammer

A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some light lacing.

S: Mild spice, banana, fruity notes, bready, a little wheat twang, and a little caramel sweetness.

T: Fruity, pear, apple, hints of peach, classic esters and phenols, mild spice, a touch of banana, bready, a little wheat twang, and a bit of caramel sweetness.

M: A bit on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Sort of a light version of a German wheat beer. Very drinkable

Beautiful! Crystal clear amber with an impressive & clingy white head. Banana & cloves says hello to the nose. Only a hint of salty & sweet to taste. A flavorful mix of banana, clove, bread & malted wheat. So very delicious. And so many bubbles on tongue make it fun to drink.

A moderate pour from a 500-ml. bottle into a 20-oz. mug produces a two finger white head made up of large and small bubbles. Small fizzy bubbles rise like in a fish tank to support the head which shrinks to a creamy foam.
This foam sticks evenly all around the mug when swirled and changes to thick lace 1/3 of the way though the drink.
Crystal clear pale yellow, except for all those bubbles.
The banana and bready smell from the yeast is enjoyable and consistent thoughout this breweries offerings that I have tried, this is the fourth.
The taste has added wheat malt, spice, tropical fruits and a light hop finish.
Meduim to rich mouthfeel is carried by the heavy carbonation to a slightly dry finish.
This is more than a filtered version of their Hefeweizen, similar yeast and head yet heavier on the malt with more of the bitterness coming from the hops rather than spices. Perfect for summer, another hit.

Wow. Wow... like J-Lo after an epson salt bath, this damn thing is clean! Now, let’s backtrack a second... Look at how beautiful this thing is. I mean, seriously, look at how beautiful this thing is! It’s like, uh... J-Lo pre-bath! Straw crystal clear so beautiful that even King Lothair III would be proud! With that is beautiful, yet delicate crystal malt aromas that make Raul want to use the hearts as eyes emoji. The taste, can you even imagine?! Like hooking up with J-Lo after she ate schnitzel! Perfection!

Get this. Get it good!

Poured into Weizen glass a clear, pale yellow amber with 3 finger white foamy head. Aroma is the expected banana and clove elements, albeit much dialed down. Nice wheat malt and a flavor is similarly subtle yet reasonably complex, neutered clove pervades the proceedings but is trumped by fruity citrus notes, orange, and bubble gum. A pleasant dry wheat spiciness lurks in the background along with a light caramel sweetness. Light bodied and prickly carbonation. A delicious beer to be enjoyed at anytime.

Very clear gold yellow color. Thin body with just above average almost champagne like carbonation. Aroma is bananas, yeasty bread, and malt. Taste is similar with a bit of banana bread with a mild hop bitterness. Well done and worth revisiting
