Style: German Kristalweizen

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.40%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
In our golden-yellow crystal-clear wheat beer the fresh citrus flavour harmonises very well with spicy banana notes. The fine sparkling gives it a tangy and animated appearance. Throughout summer and winter, it’s a prickling experience. It goes well with fish, seafood, white meat or it can be enjoyed as an aperitif. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Pours an absolutely translucent slightly hydrated, ehm - yellow. Head is two fingers in height, white in color, and fair in retention. Aroma is a smack of spicy hop immediately followed by soothing banana and potassium. Clove and yeast esters drive this further into the 'quintessential pale German beer' stereotype, but not in a bad way. Floral, citrus hops and toasty, biscuity, doughy, earthy malts and wheat round out the complexities of the nose. In summation - flavorful and sharp. Flavor profile is spicy hops right up front, which linger a long while before fading and banana, clove, and yeast notes land in its wake. Doughy bread, wheat, and barley notes give this a bigger profile, adding on to complexity, but not taking away from the ease of enjoyment. Mouth feel is crisp, and nearing on sharp. It has a medium-thin consistency. Overall, a very sharp, crisp, refreshing beer with some unique notes. It embodies the stereotypes of so many German beers, but carries it well, making it a refreshing experience. Note the style description states the banana and yeast notes would be more subtle, but in contrast, they really drive the experience throughout this glass.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 500mL bottle.

I'm loving this. Smells and looks like banana champagne. So clear and bubbly, great lacing, great banana-cream smell. Taste is a very clean. light banana and malts. Good mouthfeel. Tastes like a mix of Duvell and the OG Weienstephaner Weissbeir. Fantastic.

16.9oz bottle poured into a pilsner glass

Look:
Gold, light, and clear. Carbonating hard. Egg white head.

Smell:
Honey, sweet, and coriander.

Taste:
Coriander spice and sweet. Citrus bitter. Wheat grain. Some grape juice. Tart and dry.

Feel:
Medium body, very fizzy.

Overall:
One of the best in this style. Sweet, coriander, bite. Easy to drink if you like this flavor. Surely, I'd get again.

Poured into a tall clear pint glass. Pours a clear (as advertised) golden yellow, with a huge head that has great retention and lacing.

Aroma consists of a weissbier. Notes of yeast, dough, banana, light caramel, wheat, bread, mild spice, and mild lemon.

Much like the smell. Taste is very yeasty and wheaty, if not fruity with the notes of those mentioned above. Other notes of peaches, apples, and pears. Feels smooth.

I know the julian code for this company so I know the beer is not old. Yes, I agree it is banana & spicy but those notes are quite mute. I am not impressed with this beer, I think their regular hefeweizen is better. Cheers! B-

500 mL bottle. Clear golden body. Big white head. Smells of wheat and banana esters. Tastes of strong wheat graininess and yeasty fruitiness. Bananas and spicy finish. Medium light. Well carbonated. Like a light hefeweizen. Good, but not my thing.

slight and short lasting head, aroma of yeast, and bananas thin but highly carbonated mouthfeel flavor follows nose but increases with warmth a pleasant beer sweet but not overbaring would definitely buy again

On tap at Speiskammer

A: Pours golden yellow with a frothy off white head that settles to a light layer and leaves some light lacing.

S: Mild spice, banana, fruity notes, bready, a little wheat twang, and a little caramel sweetness.

T: Fruity, pear, apple, hints of peach, classic esters and phenols, mild spice, a touch of banana, bready, a little wheat twang, and a bit of caramel sweetness.

M: A bit on the lighter side of medium body, moderate carbonation.

O: Sort of a light version of a German wheat beer. Very drinkable

Beautiful! Crystal clear amber with an impressive & clingy white head. Banana & cloves says hello to the nose. Only a hint of salty & sweet to taste. A flavorful mix of banana, clove, bread & malted wheat. So very delicious. And so many bubbles on tongue make it fun to drink.
