Style: Doppelbock

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 7.40%

Availability: Winter

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Korbinian, the full-bodied, dark Doppelbock with light brown foam, wins beer-lovers over with a balance of fruity hints of plums and figs, a dark malt aroma - reminiscent of toffee, nuts and chocolate. Its roasted flavour goes well with smoked meat and fish as well as venison and poultry. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

500-ml. bottle poured heavy into a 20-oz. mug creates a one finger rocky tan head that shrinks fast yet persists.
Dark transparent brown with a ruby-amber hue when held up to light. Fast rising bubbles around the mug.
Smells of rye bread, dried fruit and sweet roasted malt.
The taste has bread and fruit plus grainy malt at first, semi-sweet roasted malt jazzed up by the co2 in the middle, followed by hops and roasted malt bitterness.
Medium body with persisting carbonation and slight astringent alcohol.
Ale-like in mouth feel and look (exept for the rising bubbles). Nice blending of malts, not to much roasted bitterness.

Nice dark color with a very light head upon pouring from bottle, looks like flat coke. Tastes of spiced bread, dark fruit. Reminiscent of stout in flavor. This is difficult to drink quickly due to the potency of the flavor of the beer, though that’s certainly not a bad thing. Nice after dinner drink.

Chestnut body is topped with a massive off-white head. Clever how the bubbles arrange themselves, tiny at the bottom- large on top. Plum, Raisin, caramel aroma, very pleasant. Slightly sweet. Flavor follows the nose with the addition of chocolate & cola. Also some alcohol flavor. Medium body & plenty of carbonation. Overall an excellent doppelbock.

Fantastic doppelbock and likely the best out there in beer land. Rich, smooth, creamy, fruity, nutty, coffee, chocolate and yet not a sugar bomb. Forget the food, just sit back and enjoy this one. Great value. Its friggin comfort food in a bottle! Winner Winner Chicken Dinner!

Pours a clear, deep mahogany coloration with a medium, creamy head. Smells of bready, caramel malt with rich notes of dark fruits: fig, plum, raisin and hints of chocolate and clove. Taste is quite sweet, with strong notes of dark pumpernickel bread, caramel malt and also very rich notes of dark fruits: fig, plum, raisin. Also has notes of toffee, chocolate and clove, with a light yeastiness coming through as well. Finishes with a very light bitterness and some more sweetness coming through. Smooth mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation. This is my third most favorite Doppelbock after Ayinger and Andechs. What makes this most unique are the rich dark fruit notes and light spiciness, but it's also quite sweet, a little too sweet for my personal liking actually. Still a great, complex Doppelbock with a good balance.

16.9oz bottle into Perfect Pint
L- dark brown with red highlights, thin head
S- cherries, burnt caramel
T- caramelized dark cherries, brown sugar, slight cola taste, lots of yeast character
F- medium-bodied, crisp but a bit sluggish
Overall I feel this lacks some of the traditional Doppelbock traits

L-Dark ruby red beer with a nice, very distinct German hearty head.
S- I get aromas of chocolate, malts, slight stone fruit and strong biscuit.
T- It follows the nose, with the exception of a good bitterness. Notes of chocolate, malt, stone fruit and biscuit.
F- Medium bodied mouth feel.
O- Very good Dopplebock with a huge biscuit flavor. Overall, there is a chocolate, fruit and malt flavor that is extremely present, but still overshadowed by the biscuit flavor and aroma. Could be better, but certainly could be worse.

Every time I drink this my mind draws a blank on the previous night’s events. Guess that’s a good sign? Heavy and dark yet surprisingly drinkable. A great special occasion beer. This brewery can do no wrong.

Poured from 500ml bottle into glass. Date stamping on label is '3277 08:30:57'.
Ruby brown colored body, appears to be clear. Beige, long lasting head. Ring and spots of lacing left after each sip.
Plums and figs in the aroma, with chocolate malt hints.
Taste also has the dark fruits, and the chocolate, along with a nutty toffee aspect. More sweet than bitter overall. Finishes with a dark bready like flavor.
Thin to medium mouth feel. Rather smooth rather than biting.
Drinks like a meal in the glass.

Murky brown, slight tan head with wash. Aroma is light and enticing with wet fig, caramel toffee and warm malt. Taste has lots of bready german malt upfront and then transitions into some plum juice, prune, cola phenol, rye bread. Hearty without being heavy. Mouthfeel is a little thin
