Notes / Commercial Description:
Our dark wheat beer is impressive with its creamy white foam. A fruity-fresh sweetness and hints of mature bananas harmonise with delicious flavours of roasted malt, sparkling and full-bodied with a light caramel taste on the first sip. An excellent accompaniment from hearty meals and game to chocolate and nut desserts. Brewed according to our centuries-old brewing tradition on the Weihenstephan hill.

Got this from a bottle in Denver, CO. I've been to Germany, the Netherlands, and Belgium and this reminded me of them quite a bit.

Appearance: A slight foam when poured, that quickly dissipates. Lacing is almost nonexistent, but really who cares about that. The beer's actual color is a rich brown that resembles oak.

Smell: This was my favorite part of the whole beer. I buy candles that smelled like this. Sweet and a bit earthy .

Taste: Light, and clean. Had a bit of an aftertaste, but in a bad way. Reminds me of rye beers that I have tried.

Mouthfeel: Lots of carbonation, I don't know if that was the elevation or the beer. Clean finish and minimal aftertaste. Great for a starter at a beer tasting party.

I'm not a dunkel fan...but this is pretty good. The beer poured a hazy brown with 1/2 finger thick head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent and taste carries hints of banana and clove along with a touch of roast and earth. The mouthfeel is medium in body with good carbonation. Overall this is a great beer and worth a try.

16.9 oz bottle was poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance: This beer poured a two finger head that reduced to a thin layer. It is a dark copper color with some clarity and vision of bubbles coming up through the glass. Spotty lacing on the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Bananas cloves, spicy yeast, bready malts, and a little chocolate.

Taste: Liquid bread baby. You can't go wrong.

Mouthfeel: Smooth, chewy, delicious, medium bodied, and low to medium carbonation.

Overall: One of the best beers you could ever have. Not much difference from the regular hefe.

A - 4.5 - The beer itself is a nice medium brown hazy color that has a nice thick white head on top that leaves great lacing.
S - 4.75 - A lot of banana, spice, cinnamon, bread, wheat, some belgian yeast characteristics.
T - 4.75 - Again, banana, spice, cinnamon, bread, with some belgian yeast characteristics. Very smooth.
M - 4.75 - A nice medium smooth mouthfeel with alcohol completely covered. Aftertaste is spice and belgian-y yeast flavors.
O - 4.75 - Very smooth, another great one by Weihenstephaner.

A 16.9 bottle poured into a shaker pint glass.

Appearance - A murky, rust colored beer. A big head that dissipates quickly, leaving a small amount of tan foam. No stickage what-so-ever. An interesting looking brew.

Smell - Sweet and sour in equal amounts.

Taste - Sweet. Dried apples/raisins . That sour German Weissbier flavor is present but not overwhelming. The hops are are barly noticeable.

Mouth - Fine yet active carbonation. Oily. Very nice.

Overall - A pleasant, sophisticated lager. Many interesting flavors come together to produce this eminently drinkable beer. This beer would go well with a nice steak dinner. Weihenstephaner is one of those rare breweries that can do no wrong.
