I'm not sure that this beer isn't made anymore, since I bought a mixed 6 pack earlier this year in France and it's dated as produced in February of 2010. Different label than the one shown here.

A: A tad cloudy, lots of carbonation. Yellow with the slightest bit of orange. Looks like redbull.

S: Sort of like a less sweet redbull. More redbull than beer. Yeasty/fresh bread, chemically alcohol and slightly sweet apricot underneath.

T: Subtle flavor. Subtle apricot, alcohol aftertaste. Quite ok flavor but very mild and nondescript.

M: Medium body and mild carbonation.

O: It's fine, just not so interesting.

This malty triple pours a hazy golden body with a decent head, which sticks a fair while. A decent bottle conditioned beverage, which I'm sure will better with age.

Aroma is malt, malt and more malt. A touch of ripe fruit in there, but really smells like an Ovaltine malt drink.

Taste is good, the malt is sublime with spiced fig/date notes, and neither too sweet nor too bitter, a great balanced brew that goes down a treat.

Aftertaste is a touch acidic but not excessive.

This is a fine brew from the Bretonian Lancelot brewery from Merlin's homestead, defo their flagship beer and certainly up with the Belgians in the same bracket.

Certainly better than the early BA reviews, not sure it'll be on enough beer raters radars!

Note...This is a Bretonian Tripel, not a Belgian Pale....but both on the same track I guess.

330ml bottle bought from Bootlegger, Paris...

Poured a hazy golden orange colour... Slightly off white head poured big and foamy and faded to thin layer...

Aroma - Lemony, light traces of clove, spicy / peppery, vanilla, some saltiness, lightly creamy, light caramel malts, honey...

Taste – Nice creamy caramel maltiness, honey sweetness, floral, over ripe sharp fruitiness, spicy apple, nice hop bitterness...

Feel - Quite sharp and dry. Light body... Pretty drinkable...

Overall - A pretty good beer.... recommended...

Bottle into An Brainblasta goblet in Belfort, France. Reviewed live.

A: Two finger head, quite thin, no cream, and poor retention. Hazy orange-gold colour.

Sm: Caramel. Slight nut hops.

T: A bit estery, actually - indistinct - with some cream over top a barley foundation. Rather simple for the style and not particularly balanced. Some orange tones but nothing special. Some nasty malt notes inject at the midpoint.

Mf: Smooth and wet, but short of refreshing or complementary of the body.

Dr: Hides its ABV well, but is low quality. Fairly priced I suppose - at least by French standards.

Pours a cloudy-bright yellow-orange color with little or no head. Smell isn't great, a little like a skunky American Lager. The taste is surprising, nothing like what is implied by the smell. It has the same light texture as a Pilsner with a watery finish, but the taste is similar to a blonde. Taste doesn't linger at all, but finishes very crisp. Easy to drink.

Beer bottle (33, 75 cl), tasted in 1999.
Appearance: bright gold color. Light foam
Smell: fruity
Taste and mouthfeel: both gentle and refined by its flavors with aromas of honey
Drinkability: good beer in a style close to the tripel

Murky golden color with chunks of yeast and sediment suspended in the brew. Thick one finger creamy head. Aroma and taste is citrus and malt. Body is heavy and chewy. One of the thicker biere de gardes I’ve tried....

Golden orange hazy color. White foam, average in compactness and creamy.
At the smell some fruitiness (orange), honey, some flowers. Some spiciness, too. Decent smell, but nothing remarkable.
The taste is fruity, light honey, a bit sweetie. Hints of spiciness here and there (coriander, pepper).
Decent, drinkable, but surely not the best of the brewery. Orange, orange flowers.
Quite drinkable.
In the aftertaste flowers and some spices. Less sweet. Some honey again, less strong. White flowers, orange.

Pours an impressive golden colour topped by a nice white head. The aroma consists of citrus and hops. Taste consists of hop hints. Worth mentioning that for the brewing of this beer honey is also used. Average carbonation and mouthfeel.
