Amazing coincidence here, a days-old review of this incredible brew by another member mentioned that it was purchased from my second-favorite bottle shop Bine&Vine in San Diego's Normal Heights. Well, I happen to be drinking one of those this moment, and yes, I agree with everything the other member had to say about this completely satisfying brew. The funny thing here is that a year ago, before I learned to enjoy hoppy IPA's and the like, I used to think Edel-Pils was untraditionally too hoppy. No longer! Now, my palate has begun to move to .... well, wherever it has to go when one begins to appreciate hops ... a larger vision, so to speak, of the beer world, and today I would say that this pilsner kills it in every category. And ditto everything the other reviewer had to say.

Spent way too much money on a bunch of beer from North Park Beer Company, Windmill Farms and Bine & Vine. Woof. Had kind of mapped out this one a few days prior though when I saw it at Bine & Vine (first checked Windmill Farms because it would’ve been cheaper, but no dice). Enegren’s website called it, “Crisp, clean and refreshing traditional German-Style Pilsner. Brewed with German Pilsner malts and German noble hops, this is a easy drinking summer beer with a just enough hop bite.” Mentioned hops were Herkules and Tettnanger. Enegren kills everything they do, so was really looking forward to it.

Poured a medium yellow clear color with six fingers of rocky white head. Could see a good deal of bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass at different speeds. Average watery lacing. Decent retention. (Sight - 3.75)

Smelled grass, hay, herbal, melon, honey, Noble hops, pine needles, dish soap and hints of black pepper. Better out of the can. (Smell - 4.00)

Taste was a little better than the nose, but similar flavors. In order got grass, hay, herbal, melon, Noble hops, bitter pine needles, dish soap, black pepper and hints of salty floral stem. (Taste - 4.25)

Light body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Dry finish. (Feel - 3.75)

Another outstanding offering from Enegren. (Overall - 4.00)

Clear bright yellow with rings of foam in the tall Pilsner glass. Pleasing taste of corn with a touch of resins and straw. Moderately malty. Just slightly bitter, but has a hoppy finish. Brewed with Hallertauer and Tettnanger hops. Extremely drinkable and mellow sort of Pilsner. This would be the ideal Oktoberfest brew with its moderate alcohol level. From the 16 oz can purchased at Bine & Vine.

Waboom up your head like a Jack Dempsey punch for looking at his girl the wrong way. Yeah, I’m feelin’ it like dropping acid before a hot air balloon ride. Nice straw-like appearance like that dude in the Wizard of Oz who only wanted a heart. Hella biscuit and bread on the tongue like Sasha Luss baking some morning goods.

Now, it’s not perfection (Raul won’t go there) but it will still do the trick like a trick. Ya feel me?

*I rarely do this, but I’m going to downgrade this beer a lil more after drinking it. It had a lil too much syrup on the finish that I’m not too fond of. Not AAL overwhelming nasty, but just a lil.
