UWS location is sure to be a hit, tons of pedestrain traffic and tons of foodies abound.

Quirky place, where you immediatly go down a flight via escalator, then another level down to experience the aisle confusion and typical Trader Joe's motif and ambience...lots of interesting and somehow slightly off beat food options, lots of fresh veggies, ready to eat options and the like.

Beer wise, you are not gonna be wowed by this place, however they do stock many main stream options of the good stuff, as well as more then a few of their own brand choices. Prices on beer, as with seemingly everything else is on the reasonable side.

Def. not a destination for rarities, but you will find some tasty stuff to eat and drink for your central park picnic or whatever...

Trader Joe's UWS has long been a grocery shopping favorite of my wife and I. They have good quality food for low, relative to nyc, prices. The customer service is amazing; friendly and helpful, never any rudeness, it's like they're all on a happy pill. The only drawback is that space is an issue, and when the long lines to the register form, it's hard to shop and wade through the chaos. Nevertheless, they do a good job of moving it fast.
As for the beer...they have a decent selection. You won't find macros here. Instead, you will find the typical assortment of craft favorites; DFH, Brooklyn Brewery, Captain Lawrence etc. You will also find Trader Joe beers that are not great, but not awful either. Nothing rare or out of the ordinary, selection not particularly diverse in style, (mostly domestic) overall, I would not consider this a beer place since the food is the main emphasis. However, I love the dirt cheap prices. They let you buy singles, and most bottles tend to be a good 50cents to a dollar cheaper than in other places. Also, although the imported selection is not good, they do have 25oz Duvel and Chimay bottles for only $10. That's a steal for NYC!

The newest and biggest Trader Joe's in Manhattan comes with two huge floors of sticker-shock-free grocery shopping, cheerful employees and the usual long lines and navigational chaos.

Still, if you come here before, say, 4pm, you should be fine- the store is quite manageable before the rush-hour crowd takes over.

The beer selection is smaller than the other Trader Joe's in Manhattan I have visited (Union Square), and much smaller than most Trader Joe's around the US I have shopped at.

They stock a small bunch of classic craft names like Smuttynose (IPA, Star Island), Rogue (Shakespeare), North Coast (Rasputin), Blue Point (Toasted Lager) and Ommegang, plus the usual array of Trader's own beer. Also some Chimay and Duvel bombers, but that's about it. No rarities or deals.

Prices are alright but not great. My six-pack of Smuttynose IPA was $9.99, which is the same price as in Whole Foods or anywhere else. Service is good at this store and anywhere in the Trader Joe's chain, but don't expect much help with your beer. I don't think they have a beer expert here...

It is obvious that the beer section of this Trader Joe's is a total afterthought, but it is nice being able to grab a pack of some competent craft brewski while you're shopping for those crazy-affordable groceries.

If you're looking for beer only, though, look elsewhere. Fairway Market two blocks north has a much better selection, and so does Pioneer Supermarket a couple of blocks over from this Trader's.
