Lucky Dog's Alehouse is a rare gem in Carlinville. It has the best selection of beer in what could well be a thirty mile radius. It is the only bar in town with Guinness on tap and there is a superior selection of domestic and imported bottled brew as well. I have seen everything from Fox Barrel cider and LeBatt Blue, to Newcastle Ale and PBR. The service is always top notch, no matter how busy things get and the bartenders go out of their way to make sure you always have a full drink. It is a smaller place, with seating for about fifty people and a small dance floor, but it truly is a local gem. As far as prices are concerned, domestic drafts start in the $1.50 neighborhood and a pint of Guinness is only $3.50. Bottle and aluminum pint prices vary, but overall they are extremely reasonable. Currently, a sandwich shop is being annexed onto Lucky Dog's and if the quality of the bar is any indication of the sandwich shop, the food should be amazing. Overall, if you happen to wind up in Carlinville, don't hesitate to go to the square and check out Lucky Dog's Alehouse.
