Picked up a single 12 oz bottle (the last one in the store) at Discount Liquor in Milwaukee. Freshness expiration on the cap states it's good for another six months (11/18/15). Poured into a Lakefront Brewery pint glass.

L: Pours surprisingly yellow out of the bottle, almost like lemonade. In the glass, it takes on a nice bright--albeit hazy--golden wheat with a quarter inch of cream-colored head that dissipates to almost nothing after a minute or so.

S: "Funk" is the first word that comes to mind. Some IPAs have that weed-like funk to them, but this one is definitely more of a fruity/citrus and pine funk, like used gym socks that have soaked in strawberry lemonade and pine needles for an afternoon. I know that sounds a little disgusting, but it's really not off-putting at all--just interesting for this style.

T: There's sweetness and some citrus at the forefront. The vanilla, strawberry, and rhubarb make their presence felt early, but only the rhubarb seems to make it to the middle. The back end is predominantly citrus-like: it finishes similarly to a shandy, though there is some pine bitterness at the close. No single taste stands out much--it's quite balanced--but the overall experience is unique enough to this style that my taste buds are engaged.

F: Crisp and somewhat light. Again, this has a mouthfeel similar to a shandy. There's no syrupy quality or lingering feel on the tongue.

O: This is an interesting, well-balanced brew that seems to push the boundaries of what an American IPA can be. I enjoy the subtlety of the strawberry, rhubarb, and vanilla, but I find myself wishing that any one element was more pronounced. For die-hard hop-heads, this probably isn't a beer you should overexert yourself trying to find because the hops just aren't very assertive. But if you're looking for a unique, well-executed excursion into the fringes of IPA-dom, you'll probably really enjoy it.

Remarkably, what the IPA has become is fruit forward beer that never actually contains fruit. Their impressions of fruit come from the hops- varietals that exhibit citrus, tropical, orchard and exotic varieties which trend bitter and with lesser of a sweet presence than does the actual fruit that they represent. That's what Omnipollo does, yet coupled with a seemingly impossible creamy dryness and a confident bitterness to lead the way.

Its hazy gold appearance takes the shape of white grapefruit juice. ...and so does its appearance. Only its creamy white swath of foam says something more... something more beer-like. But with the nose towering above, those actual grapefruit tendencies fuse seamlessly with pineapple, orange, passionfruit, pineapple and apple- all of the dried, musty and tangy varieties.

Its taste foregoes such earthy dryness and favors a creamy-dry type of sweetness that is slimly of fructose, simple syrup and faint honey. As the middle paste sheds the bulk of malt, the hops begin to shine; carrying all those citrus, tropical and orchard fruit flavors before diving into a grassy, herbal and flowery finish.

Semi-dry and with fruit echoes, the highly characterful ale finishes with resolute dryness, musty dried fruit and soft angel food textures while the bitterness of grapefruit skins claim utter dominate of the show.

Enjoyed a pint on tap at Beer Revolution in Calgary, seemingly a part of the current sour beer festival. Even as a guy not often wild about gimmicky beer ingredients, this one caught my eye. Arrived a hazy golden straw color with a finger of creamy white bubbles on top.

The smoothie motif is apt. Do go into this expected to taste hops but do not expect a typically resinous IPA. The creamy and smooth mouthfeel is unique and does recall the culinary angle attempted here. Decent body that evokes a dessert of sorts. Aroma recalls pineapple, lemon-lime soda, orange, and perhaps a hint of mango and coconut. The taste is similar, a vanilla custard base with an orange, pineapple, white grapefruit, and lime garnish. Nice balance of sour, fruity, and sweet. Any berry flavor is unripe and tart. I think I can place the rhubarb, or at least a solid facsimile thereof. Not having read the label, I'd guess the special ingredients are indeed present, but everything is tastefully done. Finish is where things get particularly funky and sour, which provides a pleasing contrast to the earlier sweetness.

Fun beer. Appropriately low key and subtle yet flavorsome, with no one ingredient dominating. This is an attempt to integrate many disparate elements that somehow comes together rather nicely, probably due to a clear culinary vision in mind. Inspiring.

Pours a hazed, golden-amber color, with a bubbly small head.

Smells very fruit forward, not overly ripe, of grass coated, luscious papaya, tangerine and lemon zest. There is actually a prickly sweet strawberry quality among this foundation, together with orange building up a sweet peak, gently countered by sour lemon peel.

Has a lighter body to it, together with a soft, lively carbonation, while finishing with a pleasant fruity dryness, which manages to remain the beers softness to the tongue entirely.

Tastes of sour strawberries, orange and lemon, with a sublime dankness to it, smoothing the taste, while bringing the flavors closer together at the same time, resulting in a very fruit focussed ipa. Its focus is quite unique though, due to its prominent unripe strawberry quality, which gets completed by more sour lime and a soft aqueous note. During its finish, the beer adds a pleasant dryness to the still prominent fruits, which shifts the focus a tad more onto the lemon, while crackery malts manage to balance the hop bill.

Its softness is one of the beers most outstanding qualities, resulting from a well pronounced aqueous characteristic, while managing to create a convincing hop depth at the same time. Strawberry adds just a minor hint of sweetness to the taste, which is enough to let it stand out on itself, balanced by sour lactose, which then blends into a nice fruity dryness. Focussed and unique.

Pours a very cloudy vibrant straw yellow color. Huge strawberry on the nose. The lactose gives it a great mouth feel and finish. The rhubarb is not overpowering which was great. The vanilla was also very subtle. Although it was not hoppy at all. The ingredients overpowered any hop bitterness. Overall this beer was awesome and the name fits the taste profile.

An opaque golden straw color with a phenomenally fruity and dank resiny smell. The strawberry comes through perfectly and the lactose adds a very solid mouh feel. Do not pass this up if you like unique and fruity (not overly so) IPAs. It should be noted that the hop profile is very dank and piney, but borders more on a pale ale.
