Fruit has once again found favor in beer, and its convergence is strong, curious and creative as the strawberry and vanilla spice finds its way into the India pale ale.

Omnipollo's Abrahadabra pours the hazy straw and frothily headed appearance as kellerbier. But one pass of the nose reveals the delicacy of vibrantly ripe strawberry and the vanilla-laden scent of cream soda. Backed with floral and citrus, the hoppy scent acquiesces to the fruit and spice. Its taste offers less delicacy as the clean sweetness of pale grain, light bread and sweet cream offers a highly compelling early palate.

The middle palate is one of transition- the radiant glow of strawberry regresses and the soft vanilla trails; all giving way to the dominant hop taste of the IPA underneath to command the finish. Lemon, orange, grapefruit, gooseberry and kiwi add a tart and acidic hop flavor that overwhelms the strawberry and their bitterness is sharply grassy, peppery and leafy.

Medium-light on the palate, the vanilla enhances the beer's impressions of creaminess, but its carbonation pops on the tongue and erases much of the malt, fruit and spice. Extra bite from a hop-derived astringency proves a bit much for the beer's arid finish and the finesse of strawberry and cream.

Poured a cloudy gold color with very little head that fizzed away quickly. The nose has a hop dankness to it that is partnered with a sweetness from the lactose and a slight bit of strawberries. The flavor starts with strawberry and follows with bitterness from the hops. The feel is a little thicker than what a typical IPA would feel like and isn't as carbonated. Overall this combination IPA works well together. The flavors meld with each other creating a complex taste without anything being overpowering.

Bomber poured into a tulip wine glass.

Pours a hazy copper and golden color. Light frothy foam.

Smells a bit funny for me. Got some Heineken-like skunkiness. Tropical fruitiness surrounds, hitting with pineapple. 3.75

Still tastes skunky but like Heineken, it's strangely appealing. There's also some unripe mango and pineapple and a floral finish. 3.75

Feel is curious. Floral, slightly resiny, and piney. Some juicy qualities and light-bodied, easy-drinking qualities. Enough carbonation to keep things interesting and it's pretty darn bitter. 4

Interesting beer.

Pours a hazed amber with a pinky of cream colored head. Stays hazed, great lacing with nice head retention

S: Grassy, a little grapefruit rind

T: Grass, pine, & a little pomello up front. A little grapefruit & breadyness, some pear notes, some tangerine as this warms, some dryness. Finishes grassy, a little piney & dry with pink grapefruit

MF: Medium body, fairly firm carbonation, pretty good balance

This was alright, but not worth $8.99 a bomber, drinks easy

Abrahadabra brewed by Omnipollo, with an ABV of 6.00% This brew pours out a nice golden amber color with a nice small white head. There is also a slight cloudiness to the look of this brew. The smell of Abrahadabra is mild with hops , grains and malts. There is also a mild sweetness to the smell of this brew. This brew is an American IPA brewed with strawberries and vanilla . Now for the taste it is bold with hops, grains , and malts. There is a lot going on in this American IPA. Abrahadabra, has an ok balance to it, there is nothing overpowering about this brew. I like how bold the taste from the hops up front then a nice smooth sweetness at the end. It is really hard to pick up on the 6.00% ABV in this brew, it is just that smooth. The mouthfeel of Abrahadabra is smooth , mild, bold and refreshing. Overall I'm giving Abrahadabra a 4out of 5. I would by this brew again. Omnipollo, did a nice job with this brew. I was hoping for more for this brew.

Abrahadabra | Omnipollo. Poured from the bottle into a pint glass, this brew's head is three fingers thick, with secular lacing, and a translucent light golden amber body.

I smell a subtler hint off the additives mentioned on the labeling with a nice inclusion of juicy citrus-like hops. Nothing too wild with the hop's smell either.

Tastes like alot more hops now that its on the palate, more of an APA amount of hoppiness IMO. I am getting a bit of the strawberries more on the aftertaste. Perhaps a fresher bottle would have more profoundness of that.

The mouthfeel I'm getting is medium-light with fair carbonation.

Overall, I'll give Abrahadabra | Omnipollo a solid 3.5. A unique Scandinavian take on a the American IPA. Its worth getting to switch things up with your IPA's, but not something I'd run out and grab a case of.

Bottle purchased at AJ's Beer Warehouse, in Henrietta, NY.

This one pours a slightly hazy murky orange color, with a small quickly receding head, and a little bit of lacing.

Smells like a big juicy hop bomb, as I'd expect, with some definite strawberry, just a hint of earthy vanilla, etc. The weird flavor additions in this one don't dominate- they compliment the strong base IPA, which is key here for me.

The taste allows more of the creamy vanilla taste to come through nicely for me, with a definite slightly tart strawberry note. I'm not sure if this is brewed with Citra, but it definitely feels that way to me, given the hop profile. There's also a bit of a wheaty snap on the end, which is a common thing running through a lot of Omnipollo's IPA. This doesn't outright feel like a smoothie, like the description on Omnipollo's website, and rather more feels like a great IPA with smoothie-like characteristics. I dig.

This has a great mouthfeel and texture, another common thread running through a lot of Omnipollo's IPAs. It's creamy, rich and full, with a normal level of carbonation for the style.

Another awesome hoppy creation from these guys.

Poured into a Seattle Beer Week pint glass. Pours a hazy medium orange-straw with a fine two finger white head with great retention and lots of lacing. Aroma of bready malt, citrus hops, strawberry and light vanilla. Flavor is slightly tart strawberry and lemon citrus, citrus rind hops, quickly drying out to a mild yeast, almost saison-like bitterness. Nice creamy body and mouth feel. An unusual IPA that has some of the dry, grassy and earthy flavors of saison ales, but retaining good citrus hop flavors. Unusual flavor progression from a strawberry citrus IPA profile to the drier farmhouse finish. Not sure this all comes together smoothly, but there are lot of intersting and unexpected flavors and transitions here to make this an enjoyable off-beat hoppy ale.
