Pours a great looking golden color, with a decent head, soon collapsing to a thin layer of lacing.

Smells of a pungent, noble grassiness, with just a tiny spice hint to it. That spicy note is enough though, to open up the nose to the beers smooth yeast qualities, creating a nice flowery depth by blending into herbal hops, which maintain supremacy.

Has a yeast smoothed medium carbonation, with a refreshing mouthfeel to it, due to the well noteable, pleasant hop quality.

Tastes of a stony minerality, resulting from the effervescent carbonation, which remains noteable from the beginning till the end, softened by the emerging, dough yeast. Well entangled into the beers yeast character, herbal hops add a pleasant dryness to the taste, developing into an interesting counterpart to the perfectly dispensed spice quality of the yeast. During the finish, dryness evolves, including even more grass, showcasing the brews pale ale qualities, while yeast and white bread malts act as a smooth, balancing foundation.

This creates an intriguing interplay between the hops and a mineralic aqueous quality, resulting in a tickling dryness, while yeast adds a smooth, spicy softness, without overpowering the hop impression.

Hazy/cloudy orange/copper colour. Weeds, earthy hops, slightly sweet yeast smell, sort of like a heffe-weizen. Tastes more like a bitter heffe-weizen. Uniquely like a Belgian strong meets a German wheat. A slight alcohol finish.

Grainy with a minor ester and phenol character... Okay Sweetish with a bigger hit of yeasty phenols and balanced apple/pear essence.. Seems overblown for the ABV.. not interesting just a shotgun blast at "should be good".

A 330ml bottle with a best before date of 25th June 2016 and poured into a Duvel tulip glass.

Appearance: It poured a golden copper colour with very light haziness. Aggressive pour left a huge three finger yellowish head that had very good retention leaving some spotty lacing.

Aroma: Mainly citrus lemon accompanied by apple, pine and some pepperness.

Taste: Apple juice and lemon zest with hints of grapefruit, orange and pepper.

Mouthfeel: Dry, medium to light bodied with high carbonation.

Overall: This was a decent Belgian pale ale and although not the best from Omnipollo, I can’t wait to try more of their stuff.

Similar flavours: lemon, bready notes, spicy characters, meringue.

Omnipollo Leon Belgian-style Pale Ale
serving type: goblet, old, probably oxidized bottle from Tamura's, Honolulu, HI (July 2015)

A: Right between gold and amber, luxurious head

S: Quite strange. Citrus, peppery from the yeast, some wet cardboard

T: Crackers from the pale malt, pepper from the yeast, and a wonderful mix of hops. I'm picking up melon, grapefruit, apricot (probably from the yeast), and just a hint of sour. As it warms, even more fruit comes out.

M: Kind of off.

O: Definitely too old/oxidized.I'm sure that the beer is amazing fresh.

Medium intensity citrus and melon notes. Medium bodied and easy to drink. Great expression from the hops, my only complaint is that I wanted more intensity.

A: Yellow gold with a brown tinge, light haze, lots of soda like carbonation and a 4 finger yellowish head with large and small bubbles.

S: Tropical fruits, pine, grapefruit, candied melon.

T: Tropical fruits, grapefruit, light sweetness, grapefruit pith, a hint of sour, floral fruity aftertaste.

M: Light dry body, moderate fine bubbled carbonation.

O: For the style, its well done. Unique, somewhat champagne like, but not on my list of 30 beers to drink before you die, at least thats my opinion after tasting it. Got in Thailand, drank in Kunming April 17, 2015.

330 ml bottle into tulip glass, best before 10/13/2016. Pours lightly hazy bright golden orange color with a 2-3 finger dense and fluffy off white head with great retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Nice dense foamy lacing clings around the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Damn nice aromas with great balance and complexity of bright citrus hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate pale malt notes; with great strength. Taste of big grapefruit, tangerine, lemon zest, orange peel, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, herbal, floral, grass, and herbal/yeast earthiness. Good amount of peppery yeast spiciness and earthy bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, tangerine, lemon/orange zest, pineapple, pear, apple, pepper, cracker, bread, and herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Damn nice complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate pale malt flavors; with a great malt/yeast/bitterness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. High carbonation and medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and fairly sticky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent hoppy Belgian pale ale. All around great complexity, robustness, and balance of bright citrus hops, fruity/spicy yeast, and moderate pale malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.
