Style: American Pale Ale (APA)

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Public Pale Ale is brewed in the classic American Pale Ale style. Assertive bitterness backed by C-60 and Vienna malts which lend notes of rich, yet semi-dry caramel. Then followed up with a nice white grapefruit and citrus aroma that begs for a follow up sip.

APA is my favorite style. Dales is my favorite APA. This beer along with Carton Hoppun is a close 2nd! Great beer, totally underrated here (except by the Bros)!

A: Hazed, as in fruitful copper, with lasting head and creamy lace.

S: Caramel, ruby citrus rind, spice, pine, fresh-cut hay, beach, salt. Ample.

T: Follows smell but more abundant, with citric hop, spicy, nutty, earthy, bitter, herbal tea, mint, fallen orchard fruit, with long grassy, grainy, high plateau finish.

F: Semi-crisp, weight, body feel.

BEATIFIC BALANCE! their best?

Had this on 2014-11-30 and on 2016-07-25 in Columbia, PA from a 12 oz can.

A - Very clear orange-copper with a 1.5-finger firm tan head with good lace. Beautiful.

S - Pineapple and orange flesh, hop floral, lightly toasted bread. Moderately strong aroma.

T - Moderate hop bite up front then some toasted bread, touch of caramel, teas, earthy spice, grapefruit and pine needle bitterness, which lasts into the finish along with a bit of fruit/malt sweetness. A lot of flavor. Pretty dry.

M - Medium body and carbonation. Smooth and a bit resinous.

O - This is very good. Plenty of in-balance flavors. I'll have this again.

Draft at a bar in the DC Convention Center area. Pours golden orange with a small, super creamy head. Nice lightly floral aroma with a hint of citrus and bready malts. Flavor follows with light citrus, good bite for an APA, light caramel sweetness. Just a hint of weird aftertaste but not offputting or super unpleasant. Light to medium bodied with adequate carbonation. Good every day brew for the peeps inside the beltway.
