Penn Quarter PorterPenn Quarter Porter

Brewed by:
DC Brau Brewing Co.
District of Columbia, United States

Style: American Porter

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.50%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
Penn Quarter Porter is our first in a line of draft-only limited-release beer, and it's a robust porter! In the way that The Public is on the line between a pale ale and an IPA, this is on the line between a porter and a stout - with chocolate notes and a dry, roasted finish.

look: 3.75 | smell: 3.5 | taste: 4.25 | feel: 3.75 | overall: 4

Poured from singles can into stout glass. The can must have been shaken up because even an easy pour caused the head to explode up the glass. I poured the rest into another glass and it was dark like oil. Two finger head. Smell is dark malt subtle black coffee medium hoppyness Medium feel decent carbonation. The best porter I have had so far. Would buy again if I could find it.

Poured into a standard pint glass: color dark, near black, not even any brown or amber edges; head is tan, almost dark tan, fine and medium sized bubbles that present 1/2 inch thick then dissipate to a solid top with some nice lacing on the glass.

aroma is exceptional, very nice and aromatic, coffee, chocolate flavors dominate, some subtle grassy and earthy hop aromas are present.

taste is also very good, very forward in the sweeter flavors but also dry in the finish; sweeter flavors follow the aroma with chocolate and coffee forward; hops are earthy and grasy

mouthfeel is very pleasant, nice lingering flavors on the tongue and cheeks with the drying quality on the tongue
