Amber orange in color with good clarity. Poured with a short, creamy, off-white foam with good retention. Medium malt and caramel aromas with medium pungent spicy hop aroma. Medium bodied with medium light carbonation a light creamy feel. Light warming sensation through the middle. Medium high pungent, spicy flavors up front with medium caramel maltiness. Medium high bitterness through the middle. Spicy hops and caramel malt from the middle to the end. Finished semi-dryly with a lingering, but pleasant hop bitterness. A malty IPA with pleasant hop character.

I bought this beer (marked 10/25/16) in DC area when I was visiting in November but this review is for my last can now in January. I can say that the flavor appears to be the same that I remember. I bought it because of a high review on BA but I was quickly thinking "meh"... I like it slightly more now.

Pours to deep copper with a very slight haze. Head dissipates very quickly. The aroma is weakly malty. There is an off scent I can't quite place but it is thin enough to not be offensive. This beer delivers on the malt backbone and the malt flavors are sufficiently balanced to be intriguing. The hops are hard to detect. Let me repeat: I do not detect any of the piney/floral/fruit hops that others point out. Odd. This malt-forward profile continues into the aftertaste though a lingering bitterness finally kicks in at the end. The flavor is slightly sweet due to some caramel hints, which I think redeems this brew.

Overall I am not left feeling like I want to get this again but I want to be clear that it falls on the side of a good beer so I would still recommend for those wanting to try local brews in northern VA - especially if you are into NW IPAs. [Edit] - actually I would try this again just to see if the lack of hop flavor is an anomaly. I would like to see how a juicy hop profile could compliment the ample malt flavor.

Since the year that DC Brau came on this scene this had been my go to home town IPA. It was a hazy, resinous hoppy standout beer. Now sadly, it's been neutered. I had thought it was my imagination but then I started hearing similar comments from other people.

It's now completely filtered, blandly hopped and totally generic. I had hoped that I had just gotten an off batch but it been about a year now and it's still hobbled. I can't imagine why the signature beer would be undermined this way. It's not a terrible beer by any means but quite forgettable. It's genuinely Corrupted now.

This is one of the more common IPAs in my new home turf. Head dies quickly on top of a blonde copper color Nose is balanced and a little boozy.

Solid citrus and medicinal hops with decent malt backbone. Texture is oily and fairly tight. This is drinkable and not embarrassing but for 12.99 a sixer its not great value. Serviceable but little more.

Pours an opaque, deep gold, producing 2 fingers of frothy, somewhat lasting, light tan head that leaves a frost-like coating of thick lace. Aroma is a nice balance of caramel malt & citus/resinous pine/floral hops. Taste is a less balanced mix of resinous pine, grapefruit/orange zest, flesh & pith & floral hoppiness with the caramel malt trailing just behind. Finishes very juciy & slightly sweet but transitioning to a bitter & malt aftertaste. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with moderate carbonation, very juciy, slightly wet finish, bittering nicely in the aftertaste. MOUTHWATERING.

I tried this on tap at BWI served chilled in a pint glass.

The color is copper with light haziness and off white head with fine bead and lace that clings ok. The smell is pine-like with mild spiced hop aroma and gentle malt with slight toasted grain accent. The feel is medium high bitterness with medium high carbonation and low sweetness with mild astringent hop finish with mostly dry texture and slight resinous mouth coating of the palate with low alcohol in the feel.

The taste is very good with a lot of hop flavor with slight greenish pine and subtle spicy quality with mild malt that has a toasted quality with gentle herbal hop quality lingering in the mostly dry finish with some bitter flavor and spice to hide the alcohol which is slightly noticeable in the flavor. This is s solid IPA, very well crafted does not exceed my expectations but it does taste fresh and is nothing to complain about either recommended highly.

Can dated 05/17/16 into a pint glass. Pours a clear, rich amber color with an off-white head that dissipates quickly. Initial impression is citrus and pine, with a nice malt sweetness. Medium mouthfeel. I had a Stone Enjoy By immediately before this, and The Corruption is quite similar. Flavors are a little more muted, it's not as sweet, and it's maybe a little thinner mouthfeel, but Corruption is right up there in the same category.

Serving: On tap

Ruddy copper, clear little to no head. Bready malt richness with a slightly citrusy earthy piney hop presence. Well-balanced flavor, not super aromatic, what I get follows the flavor: dry, slight resin, clean finish. Munich malt, rich layered slightly toasted maltiness. Prefect balance. Tasty, well made "west coast" IPA.

Had this in DC with an "Obama Burger" from Good Stuff Eatery in Crystal City.

Look: A little darker than the average IPA. Copper coloured.

Smell: East coast hop aroma. A little grassier and spicier without the tropical fruits. It's obviously more malty and in the style of an East Coast IPA. As a west coaster who is used to all west coast beers, this is amazingly refreshing.

Taste: slightly sweet, lots bitter. Loving the malt backbone keeping the grassy hope in check.

Feel: Had this on draught. Typical keg-beer carbonation. Appropriate for the style. Not sticky, clean feel overall.

Overall: I really enjoyed this IPA in the setting I had it. Especially after being bombarded for so long with west coast styles. I can't say it dulls my affinity for fruitier IPAs, but it reminds me of some of the great, more traditional IPAs out there.

Nice dark color for an IPA; almost an amber. Almost no head, white and Lacey. The smell has a pretty noticeable BO whiff to it; I'm sure it's the variety of hops. The taste is outstanding with amazing grapefruit notes, and maybe just a little on the watery side. All in all an amazing beer and will definitely seek it out again.

This beer pours a cloudy amber orange with a very small off white head. There are some floating particles as well. No retention and very few spots of lacing. Smell is subdued but decent. Sweet bready malts, pine, floral and a touch of citrus are most apparent. Taste is the same. Pretty well balanced with a bitter finish. Feel is medium and sticky. Overall a solid beer. Not the best, but I wouldn't kick her out of bed or anything.

Thanks to beatjunkee for this one, from NBS BIF #3 ninja box! Canned on 2/24/16. 12oz can poured into 10oz goblet. Poured a clean, clear, amber-gold color with just a cap of off-white head that very low retention and no lacing.

A nice blast of citrusy grapefruit hops hit the olfactory sense as soon as I cracked open the can. Upon a more snuggly sniff, a solid base of malts showed through as well. The situation was pretty similar on the tongue; solid, slightly sweet malts, bright citrusy hops, a touch of floral hops, and no real yeast aspect.

The body was a bit on the fuller side of medium, was smooth, and had a bit of sticky finish. Drinkability was good, I had no issues drinking it. Overall, I found this to be a pretty solid version of a classic NW IPA. This beer would fit right in on tap at most breweries and bars up here in the rainforest. Certainly worth a shot if you have the chance.

What a great IPA! The quality on this can is somewhat variable - some batches are better than others - but when it's good, it's very good, and when it's great, it's heavenly. Pine, sticky resin, European-style floral hop notes (like sitting in a French garden in Spring), with some grapefruity citrus. So much flavor, I've been known to shake my head and smile every time I crack open a can. For true hop-heads only, but so worth it!

Pours a orange copper color with a thin layer of white head. Aroma is pretty light, but am getting light caramel malt with citrus and pine. Tastes of a caramel malt body, bitter pine, and light citrus. Medium body and crisp carbonation. Overall a nice drinkable IPA.

Cans from the brewery. A small amount of hops, heavy on malt in the scent. Heavy on the tongue and not as easy to drink as many other Columbus heavy IPAs I have tried. Decent beer, but heavy on the malt and heavy to drink for the IPA. Decent, but nothing to search out.

Enjoying this in a pint glass at the American Tap Room in the Washington Reagan (DCA) Airport.

L: copper, burnt orange with a 1 finger foamy white head

S: There isn't much of a smell. The only weakness to this beer in my opinion. There's a light pine scent, but very subtle.

T: Explosion of fruits and hops, dank and resiny with some pine. Best part about the beer, and that's why we drink right?

F: Foamy, medium-bodied with a little more than average on carbonation. Well balanced mouthfeel.

O: A very good local beer. I would definitely drink this again. Cheers!

Look: Pretty reddish copper. Darker than I expected. Small off-white head.

Smell: Lots of fresh hops.

Taste: Flavorful. Not too bitter. Excellent balance. I'm not used to actually tasting malt in an IPA.

Feel: Medium bodied. Slightly sticky.

Overall: Great IPA. I was pleasantly surprised that this wasn't a hop bomb.

Orange / amber in color with nice fluffy head, but after that it s just average. Some nice astringent hops in the flavor, aroma seems almost sour. Malt and hops, with some tart hoppiness on the finish.

12oz can in a nonic.

Deep orange-copper color, reddish even, with a sturdy 1F linen white head. Ring and web lacing. Pretty.

Citrus, floral and pine hops with toasted malt aromas. Slightly sweet caramel.

Citrus and earthy pine hop flavors with some crisp malt, toasty and caramel.

Silky smooth medium body feel. Good carbonation. Dry hop tang finish with a lasting bite.

A very good solid brew. Hoppy yet not a bitter bomb. Nicely balanced and drinkable.

On tap at Gringos and Mariachis in Bethesda. Pours a deep orange-amber with a nice, two-finger foam and great lacing. Aroma is dominated by piney, hoppy tones. The taste is again very piney, earthy, with slight malt and honey. Resinous mouthfeel, dank aftertaste, very pleasant and extremely drinkable. Excellent example of a NW IPA, really love this local brew!

pours like mahogany with a thick white head. a darker-colored IPA but looks great.

smells like pine and malt. some sweetness to it as well. maybe a little honey too.

tastes like bitter pine. nice combination of malt/fruit/pine. definitely a piney IPA but also sweet with a solid malt backbone.

goes down smooth, easy drinking. i love "lower" ABV full IPAs.

overall this is a pretty good IPA. definitely closer to the "pine" side of the hop spectrum as opposed to "fruit". would drink this again for sure. honestly i waited a while to get this. my local stores offer their other main beers but not this one, until now!

Poured a dark orange with a white head that hugged the edges of the glass after dissipating. Grapefruit, pine, sweet malt and maybe some bread in the nose. The taste is sweet and citrusy for a moment before the super bitter hops comes in and throws all that riffraff out in the street like Patrick Swayze in Roadhouse. The hops are huge but maybe at the expense of a great balance.

The nitro tap at the Hawk in DC made this IPA special. Good hop presence, lighter on the malt side. First brew tried from DC. Definitely looking forward to trying some more.

Had this on draft at Smokehouse Live in Leesburg. Seem to be pretty good, but I honestly didn't get a good opportunity to evaluate it very well. That, and having some spicy nachos with it may not have given it a fair shake. It was good enough that I would go back to it however.

Had it again on 4-30-16 dcPrime, much better. Adjusted scores accordingly.
