Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.50%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
The Corruption™ IPA is DC Brau's take on a Pacific Northwest IPA. Brewed with Pale 2 row, C-10, Honey and Victory malts. Exclusively hopped with 40 lbs of Columbus hops per brew to ring in at 80 IBU. "The Corruption" comes in at 6.5% ABV. This beer straddle's the line between IPA and Imperial IPA and has a supportive malty backbone with an assertive hop presence that smacks your mouth with a dank, resinous bitterness followed by pleasant aroma's of pine sap and burnt spruce.

Pours a hazy amber with a small head from the growler obtained from Total Wine. Hoppy taste was as expected. Easy to drink and enjoyable! A respectable example of an east coast IPA.

12 oz can with a 22 May 2015 canning date purchased in D.C.

Orange-amber body with a large, frothy head that leaves patches of sticky lacing. Not quite hazy but low clarity.

This PA has the strong aroma and taste of hops typical of a IPA, but with lower bitterness than most IPAs.

Body: light-bodied with near medium carbonation.

Poured from a can into a shaker pint, the beer is a slightly hazed, caramel coloring with a filmy, low profile, off-white head. Aromas of evergreen, pine needles, and wet grass, with overlays of citrus and caramel. Roasted overtones, too. Flavors are resinous and piney forward, with bitterness dominating. Undertones and highlights of grapefruit, lime, and caramel attempt to balance, but this is a hoppy offering. Mid-bodied, but bold and substantial throughout, with a resinous and bitter lingering aftertaste. The finish is slick and dry, with a solid bitter and piney linger. Good beer.
