Notes:
El Hefe Speaks! is a traditionally brewed German-style Hefe. It is fermented around 65°F and hopped with German Tettnang hops. 11 IBUs and 5.3% ABV make this one extremely drinkable. If you think it speaks to you as well, definitely try a glass... because it will be gone before you can say "sweater weather". “We’re tremendously excited to bring this specialty brew to the District,” said DC Brau Co-Founder and CEO, Brandon Skall, “Working with other local brewers on this project has made presenting the final product even better.” The beer was brewed at DC Brau in early August. “El Hefe Speaks” uses the Weihenstephaner yeast strain, a classic, popular German wheat beer strain used worldwide.

12oz can into a tall glass. Canned 6/9/21, so 3 weeks old.
Looks very good in the glass. Hazy golden yellow body with light carbonation. Strong foamy head leaves scattered lacing.
Appropriate aromas of banana, yeast, wheat, and a hint of clove.
On tasting, the wheat and yeast aspects are very strong, banana less so, and clove only faintly.
Mouth closer to full than medium, finish a strong wheat.
Overall, decent beer, though a little unbalanced. Not smooth at all. Perhaps a few more weeks in the can would even things out.

I don't drink as many Hefes as I used to, but I generally like DC Brau so I decided to give this a shot. The nose is nice with banana clove esters but the head doesn't last long. Flavor is mild but tasty and refreshing, and texture is appropriately dainty. Not terribly complex, but a solid effort for the style.

From the can, it pours a light hazy amber with a modest head. Light, pleasant scent with hints of banana. The taste is also pleasant, with some banana hints.

Ordered a draft at a local pizza joint. It arrived in a tumbler with absolutely no head and zero bubbles. The color was a murky dark yellow. Smelled of banana and toasted wheat bread. Tasted like wheat and clove with a hint of metal. Mouthfeel was light and fleeting. Perhaps I got the dregs of the keg or the order was sitting on the bar too long. Overall this was a huge disappointment.

Do I smell.. Like, Brett in this beer? Is that supposed to be the case? If not, it's working for the smell. I dig it. What I don't dig is the off-flavor in the aftertaste. Definitely picking up a slight buttered popcorn. It's not wholly unpleasant.. I actually like it, but some things seem off.

My least favorite option from this brewery so far, it starts off so promising but turns into an underwhelming, overly dry finish.
Pour is murky, banana-colored haze with generous head, like a banana smoothie. First sniff is mild but enticing - slightly sweet banana flavors, hints of spice and wheat. Pretty muted, but present enough to encourage further exploration. Taste falls far short, however. Very dry, far more so than a "crushable" summer wheat should be. The banana is still there, but everything else is a hint to hard and bitter on the tongue, like licking glass. If this is what you're bringing to the beach on a hot day (it is in a can, afterall) and you're just thinking of an interesting alternative to Blue Moon, knock yourself out, but I wish this were less dry and more flavorful.

Watery hefeweizen that undermines the flavors of orange, banana, wheat, clove and subtle rye. Smell is a little more forgiving in this regard, but still limited in potency. Body is thin, but the textures come out dry on the finish somehow despite watery nature, so that's something positive. Meh
