I tried this beer last night at its second of three release events at American Ice Co in DC. This is an Oak barreled aged version of DC Brau’s Penn Quarter Porter. The Oak barrels came from Catoctin Creek Distilling Company in Virginia.
A: The beer was black. There was also a dark brown head (although there was not much of it)
S: The beer appeared to have a distinct Smokey taste. There was also a very slight alcohol vapor smell. There were also some chocolate and coffee notes.
T: The beer was very smooth. It seems in comparison to their regular PQP, this one was a lot smoother on the front and the back of the pallet. There was a slight alcohol taste; the beer was also bitter on the back of the pallet.
M: This was a very heavy beer
O: As a huge fan of barrel aged beers, I really appreciated this beer. It was full bodied and rich in flavor.

650 mL bottle poured into a snifter. 2012 bottle.
Appearance - Dark brown. Big khaki head. Thick collar. Reddish transparency at the edges.
Smell - Some roast. A lot of acids and cherry fruitines. Ruh roh. No barrel.
Taste - And it's infected. Lots of fruity acetic sourness. Some roast still comes through, but it's fully infected.
Mouthfeel - Dry. Well carbonated. Sour.
Overall - Obviously, I had a different experience than everyone else.
