BEER INFO

Style: American Double / Imperial IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.20%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
OTWOA is a single hop beer utilizing Falconers Flight. Brewed with just enough Pale malt, Cara-60, CaraPils and Malted wheat to carry the intense hop character onto the pallet.

At first glance, it has an orange hue in the glass with a viscus, rocky head that refuses to dissipate. Upon first sniff there are dominate aromas of citrus, white grapes and grapefruit with light bread and biscut notes. After the first sip we taste a mellow bitterness that only grows as more is consumed. Moderately carbonated, deceptively smooth, refreshingly dry and extremely heady for a beer at 9.2% ABV.

OTWOA exhibits all the necessary traits to be revered as a world class Imperial IPA.

A- Deep orange, almost amber color, minimal head that dissipates quickly (probably due to higher abv) lots of white sediment. I've seen this in other IPA's before, maybe this guy's out of date?
S- Warm, sweet, and grassy, with slight citrus and grape notes
T- Bready and bitter, with a slight touch of citrus peel on the end
F-Surprisingly, pleasantly, and-perhaps-the-best-thing-about-this-beer-y, not too sticky or hard to pull back. Plenty of IIPA's are straight-up chewy, but this one's actually pretty smooth drinking.
O- Not a bad example of the style, but definitely not worth almost $20 per 6 pack in DC

12 oz can. Pours hazy amber, thin white head fades to a ring that lasts, soapy lacing. Big aroma of citrus, melon, grapes. Huge taste in this brew, caramel malt sweetness and bold hops collide but mesh together nicely. The hops are piney and woodsy with grapefruit peel present. Little to no alcohol presence, surprising for the high abv. Medium silky soft mouthfeel. So glad I got to try this one finally, even better than I hoped for.

A-a dark hazy golden orange with a thin layer of white head that leaves a ring around the top

S-smell is of citrus, tropical fruits, malt, and pine

T-taste is very similar to the smell with citrus, tropical fruits, and a piney finish

M-medium body, moderate carbonation

Overall a very hopped up DIPA with enough malt and tropical fruits to make drinkable
