Alcohol by volume (ABV): 9.00%

Notes / Commercial Description:
Hardcore Chimera is an American style imperial IPA brewed with Citra, Simcoe, Columbus, Cascade and Mosaic hops. The beer won a silver medal at the 2014 International Beer Festival in Rhode Island. Ringing in with over 80 IBUs Hardcore's intense aroma and flavor of passionfruit and citrus is balanced out against a hearty grain bill that lends to Hardcore's deceptively drinkable 9% ABV.

Pounder can, sample from the brewery.

Pale amber tone, lovely looking head. Massive juicy aroma of smashed tangerines and clean alcohol. Smooth with a subtle thickness of body. Bready maltiness is underlying though a prominent base. The 9.0% abv is there but it take more than a few sips to tell it is even there. My palate has been pummeled by hop flavor since the first taste yet there is no overwhelming bitterness. A real treat here, Finch's flexing their brawn and doing it right ... damn you pounder cans!

A - Semi hazy golden orange with a two finger head that dissapates into a creamy lace.

S - Good stuff. Grapefruit, hops, tropical fruit, pine, banana.

T - Picking some lemon, tinge of grass as well.

M - Carbonation is low. Thin

O- Was not overly impressed I can think of dozens that I would rather have than this beer

16oz pounder can, poured into a tulip glass. (here's a hint though, do the Heady Topper thing and just drink it from the can, the flavor pops more....)

A- a very cloudy amber/orange, with a very thick off white head. fantastic lacing.

S- Dank, citrus, with that cat-pee simcoe hop thing going on.

T- Big simcoe flavors. Dank, dank, dank. Hints of onion and garlic. Orange, a bit of grapefruit. Biscuity malt base. For as big and dank as it is, I'm surprised that it's not more bitter (that's a good thing)

M- medium and pretty darn slick and almost creamy. Dries just enough to beg for the next sip.

O- If you like big dank DIPA's, this one hits it out of the park.

L - Straw to golden. with slight haze. Pretty typical for a DIPA
S - Sweet and citrus, really a ton of dry hop coming through
T - Phenomenal dry hop flavor. Citrus is over the top. Maybe some tangerine. No noticeable malt and I love it.
F - A little thin, and definitely doesn't taste like 9%. Dry.

O - This is right up there with some of the better DIPA's but I wouldn't choose it over a heady, any trillium, or pliny. That said, it beats almost everything else.

This is a very malty IPA and has minimal Hop aroma. The crystal malt either needs to be dropped, late hop additions to be increased, or the mash temp needs to be dropped to dry this out and give it more balance. It tastes more like a low ABV barley wine. If you enjoy heavily malty IPA's then you will like it. If you prefer drier well balanced IPA's with strong hop aroma and flavour then I would not recommend. My wife liked it though so agree to disagree I guess.

Not my favorite style of IPA. A little too malty. I'm not into this brewery at all. Where is the citrusy beautiful hops in this one? Color, smell, taste was a let down. At least its 9%. Owell worth a shot. You may like it. Just not for me.

Pours into an impy pint glass a tangerine color with a lacey half finger bone white head atop.Drunken fruits in the nose along with notes of resin, the sweetness is as big as the hops.A good shot of pine and leafy hops but the sugary sweetness makes its presence known as well making for a hoppy but also sugary sweet DIPA.It's not bad but it's par for the course for too many of the style....in my opinion.

Not dissimilar to many other DIPAs; nothing special here, but it's tasty.

16 oz can

This is a bold and fresh tasting tropical hop bomb of a DIPA.

Bursting with citric/tropical fruity goodness. Heady - surprisingly almost balanced

Worthy ... go get some
