Had this on tap in a pint glass. The color is dark amber not at all dark. The smell was not distinct, slightly malty, nothing special. The taste was off, maybe dark fruit, maybe candy sugar, definitely off in some way. Mouth feel was well carbonated but dull. Overall a huge let down, doesn't meet any of the standards for a dark Belgian ale.

A big thanks to the emperor of the canned beer kingdom, woodychandler, for this beer. Poured from a 16 oz. can. Has a pretty dark chestnut color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is of malts, nutty, caramel, some dark fruits. Taste is the same, caramel malts, nuts, light fruits, alcohol is well hidden. Feels medium/full in the mouth and overall is a good quality beer.

Pours yellowish-brown with a quickly dissipating head.
Smells malty, a little oak, with a touch of booze.
Tastes like brown sugar, fruitier as it warms up. Leaves a woody, oak-y aftertaste.
Drinks a little dry.
It's pretty good.

Served from the can in a Lagunitas mason jar.

What will survive after a nuclear assault if not the immovable objects that are 4-packs of Finch's beer? Anyway, this stuff pours a clear mahogany topped by a finger or so of dirty bone foam. The nose comprises dried caramel, clove, a hint of chocolate-covered orange peel, and a vague fusel whiff. The taste brings in more of the same, with a slight uptick in the orange, and a touch of banana peel and nutmeg for good measure. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly grainy feel. Overall, a step in the right direction for Finch's in terms of flavor quality, but I'm just not that big a fan of this one: The caramel backbone comes across as old and cracked, and the Belgian yeast waffles between extreme mildness and fruity off-ness.
