Poured out a brown color with a small, tan head of foam. It smelled of toasted caramel & mossy/earthy. There were some bready malts present, too. Good caramel maltiness with an earthy, grassy hop presence. It was crisp and smooth.

Dark red/brown with white foam. Grainy malt aroma with sweet candy smells. Tastes super malty with the sweet candy/butterscotch, but there's a subtle smokiness to it that I don't like. Medium to full bodied. Its alright, but I find smokiness out of place in scottish ales.

A- dark red in colour, thin white lacing around the rim.

S- butterscotch and bread pudding.

T- same as the nose but with a slightly accentuated burnt bread pudding to accompany the caramel and butterscotch. Definite smokey flavour with a touch of tobacco.

F- actually feels quite thick for a scotch ale, lingers in the mouth.

O- a very good scotch ale, very similar to Old Chub in relation to other scotch ales. All the boxes are ticked for this one.very good.
