Notes: Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

Golden color with slight haze. Aroma is lacking but detect maybe some citrus aroma, not what I would expect for an IPA with this high of gravity. Taste is slightly more hoppy than aroma with not a lot of complexity. Mouthfeel is best part of this beer. Overall an average IPA

From BeerAdvocate magazine Issue #70 (November 2012):

Good call on the “tall-boy” can format. Very aggressive hopping here, a bit of a occupy our palates going on here and it works. Serious hop heads need try and anyone wanting to jump in with both feet. Each sip our taste buds get pummeled with hops and we can’t help but to go back for more. Very well done!

STYLE: American IPA
ABV: 6.0%

LOOK: Mildly hazed amber, excellent showing of lace

SMELL: Dried orange peel, stone fruit jam, kiss of caramel, biscuity, spicy, slightly estery, melon rind

TASTE: Smooth, slightly crisp, medium bodied, quite bitter, orange rind, mint, leafy, faintly vegtal, peppery, mild warming alcohol, grassy, caramel, bread crust, hop resin, hoppy semi-dry finish

A: Pours a golden orange in color with a tiny bit of transparency, left a tiny off white head at the top with slight lacing around the glass as you drank this brew.

S: Citrus and earthy right off the bat with a nice malt and hop note as well.

T: Well balanced with a good mixture of hops and malts, lots of bitterness though, a weird earthy taste that I was not a fan of.

M: Medium carbonation and with medium body, sligth watery taste on the tail end.

O: Overall not impressed wtih this beer, didnt have a great taste, just very dull, although it was well balanced I have had better Ipa's before.

Poured chilled in sampling glasses

A: inert, amber; very thin head; little lacing
S: sweet, but slight aroma
T: balanced, soft finish; hop-forward, but with a nice combo of sweet and bitter; citrus a major component in the vibrant hops; sweetness of malt comes through, although it is not specifically identifiable (overwhelmed by hops); very drinkable overall
M: decent

Very likable beer, worth getting again

16oz can. Pours a copper amber with an off white head, light lacing. Aroma and Taste is of floral citrus hops, caramel malt, yeast and bready notes, fruity. Palate is a medium body, moderate carbonation. Finish is caramel malt, yeast, citrus orange notes with moderate floral citrus hops bitterness on the end. Overall fairly good IPA
