BEER INFO

Brewed by:
Finch Beer Co.
Illinois, United States

Style: American IPA

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 6.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
Our Threadless/Finch collaboration IPA is a balanced experience of both perceived hoppiness and true bitterness. It pours a darker amber color and finishes with a citrus flavor, and when combined, will require this to be the last IPA you ever drink! Well, maybe, we realize you will probably drink more, but the result of this recipe clearly evolves into a very balanced IPA. The grain bill on this big pale includes melanoidin and Victory malts. We hop it up before the boil starts with some Columbus first wort hopping, then add a bunch more for bittering.

I was greatly disappointed in this beer in which I found a very malt forward IPA with little or nothing else coming through in my glass. There was nothing from the hops to even give a clue as to what hops were used in this brew. If you like a malt bomb than this beer is from you.

On draft at Nina's Pizza, Northport, NY.

Poured a hazy copper hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was decent retention and lacing.

The smell featured a solid grapefruit aroma and slight grassiness.

The taste offered the same citric hop with a touch of doughiness.

The mouthfeel was clean with a vigorous carbonation.

Overall a tasty and quaffable ale.

Can purchased at AJ's Beer Warehouse in Henrietta, NY.

This one pours a medium dark amber, with a small head, and a few splotches of lacing.

Smells pretty malty for an IPA, toast and caramel, with some piney hops.

This is a very unremarkable IPA, all in all. It's far too malty and caramelly for an IPA, with only a minimal piney hop presence.

This is medium bodied, with a normal level of carbonation. Pretty crisp.

All in all boring and just not that well-done.

This IPA has a reddish brown tint, which concerned me as IPA's this color sometimes get a bit sweet. The aroma is of cedar, pine, and mulch. Very complex flavor, full, but not too sweet. I get some pine, caramel, and a hint of tropical fruits, maybe kiwi. A solid, interesting IPA.

Not big citrus aroma or taste. Fairly flat flavored without a huge ipa type. Good mouthfeel that lingers faint citrus lemon, orange flavors. Kinda cloudy.

Golden color with slight haze. Aroma is lacking but detect maybe some citrus aroma, not what I would expect for an IPA with this high of gravity. Taste is slightly more hoppy than aroma with not a lot of complexity. Mouthfeel is best part of this beer. Overall an average IPA
