A deep red malt-forward ale brewed with plenty of caramel malts and a touch of rye. Brewed and dry-hopped with Palisade and Zythos hops.

Poured into a becher pint glass, the appearance was a nice looking semi-dark amber color with a sly transparency about it. Carbonation could be seen rising at a moderate pace to fill a finger's worth of white foamy head that slid off at a mild pace. Some sliding lace, somewhat messy.
The aroma blended some toast to pine to floral rye sweetness up front. After a bit of warming, some light spicy components came out from the rye which I liked and felt that was where it was at!
The flavor was moderately sweet but brought in the spicy, floral and bitter hints to roll in and around the blend. Some caramel malts present themselves in the taste. Aftertaste was the toast, spicy and sweet rye and a little bit of caramel malts.
The mouthfeel was about medium bodied with a good sessionability about it. Carbonation felt appropriate. ABV felt appropriate. Nice rye spicy to caramel malty finish.
Overall, pretty nice as an amber ale and with the ABV where it is, this could be close to an American Strong ale, still, it's one that I'd come back to.

A: Poured into a nonic pint to an amber beer topped by a finger and a half of dense off white head that retains well and leaves some lacing
S: Smells of caramel malt and rye spice with a slight citrus and pine hop note
T: Taste is toasted bread and caramel malt with some pine and herbal hop presence as well as a hint of citrus. Nice spice from the rye as well. Swallow is more herbal hops and spicy rye with a little more toasted malt and citrus.
M: This beer has a nice medium body with adequate carbonation that is a touch under prickly. The beer has a refreshing finish as well.
O: Overall this is a pretty decent Amber ale. There's some stuff out there that does it a bit better but the beer has some nice flavors and complexity. Not one to seek out but if there's nothing else I wouldn't be disappointed.

2013 vintage, found in cellar.

Aroma is very caramelly, toasted, with a hint of sherry oxidation.

Flavor is lightly sour, which plays well with light sherry and cardboard oxidation, with notes of specialty malt fruitiness and citrusy hops exacerbating the effect. Rich malt character. Finish is fairly bitter, and peppery rye lingers in the aftertaste. It's an odd one.

Deep brown mahogony color, didn't get much foam on my pour. Smells like caramel malt, a bit of hop presence. Taste is malty sweet. Smells strongly of the hops. Not familiar with Zythos and Palisade, so not sure what to expect, or what each contributes. Medium to full body, heavy mouthfeel. I think its too hoppy and the ABV too high to be an American Amber.

Look - A constant deep black color.
Smell - Caramel and is there anything else needed here?
Taste - Caramel sums this topic up.
Feeling - Definitely packs a kick to it with the carbonation to a near perfect finish.
Overall - Enjoyed drinking this and some time soon I'll search this out again!
