Very tiny area on the inside, but the outside area is awesome. Patio seating, great for kids or pets, with a band playing. They have a very large selection.

The service can be slow, but this is due to high amount of people coming out to enjoy the live entertainment. Go earlier when they first open no waiting.

Great little bar with an outstanding outdoor seating area. Multiple draft selections from around the country, that seem to be constantly in rotation. The outdoor courtyard is awesome, and live music really makes for a fantastic atmosphere with great service, friendly people, and a great selection.

The place is located in a multi-story strip mall and has both indoor and outdoor seating. The weather was beautiful while I was visiting the week after Christmas so the doors were open and there were a fair number of people sitting outside as well as inside at the bar. There was a pretty wide demographic of folks later in the evening on weekdays - boomers, retirees, millennials, gen x, and gen y. Everyone seemed to be craft beer fans and folks were chatty, wanting to talk about the local beer scene vs. the scene where I was from... Good music, reasonable volume to facilitate conversation, and a small TV showing sports (but never NBA basketball).

Beers were well poured, in proper glassware, at a good temperature, and with a proper amount of head. The beers were super fresh and I saw almost all of the taps turn over in the three nights I visited.

Service at this place was great - I met three different sets of barkeeps over the different nights I was there. The servers were very helpful in finding/recommending beers from the local breweries that I might not find/see again and ones that were worth grabbing. Even got a recommendation for a great stout when I first arrived that I was glad I got (even though it was in the 80s) since it kicked later that evening. These guys/gals were very friendly and I would gladly stop back here next time I visit the city.

Great selection of local (greater Tampa/St. Pete) and regional (Florida) beers available on tap that change regularly. Nice assortment of styles from sours to IPAs to stouts and everything in between.

Great atmosphere. Perfect location. open court yard. Music. great beer selections. Constantly rotating their selections. The inside is pretty small. Not mush space but the courtyard really makes up for that. Bar itself is pretty small. Service of staff is great but service itself lacks due to the bar size. Prices are reasonable. Owners & staff are great. Communal support.

They serve only american craft on their 32 taps and new beer engine that are constantly rotating. The bar itself is rather small but it's attached to an outdoor courtyard that hides away from the city. The staff is always spot on with their beer knowledge and if you pick something bad they will let you know before hand. They always seem to have free live music at night, if somewhat to loud. Really, it's the perfect making of an American beer garden.

The Ale and the Witch lies inside what appears to be an outdoor, multi story mall? They have a nice courtyard that is centrally located, where people can sit from the surrounding shops and enjoy a beer (or a glass of wine, there is a wine bar next store).
The bar itself is rather small, maybe 10 seats, with about 35 taps. I didn't notice too many foreign taps, focused on American Craft with a few ciders on draft.
The bartender was friendly, and the beer was served in proper glassware. I had a Stone IPA on tap, and it tasted perfect. Definitely a great stop in the St. Petersburg area, and the best part it's not far off the Pinellas Trail, so you can ride your bike from Peg's Cantina if you'd like!

Ale & Witch is a great place with a great atmosphere. They have an extremely knowledgeable staff who obviously love what they do. A very good selection of craft beers with a great courtyard with live music almost nightly. It's truly a hidden gem in downtown St Petersburg.

First visit - very impressed. Open air and tons of draft choices. I had my first cask ale and was thoroughly in love with the place. Small, intimate inside, plenty of fresh air and tables outside - and open air is what we're all about in St Pete. Servers know their stuff and make great suggestions. When you haven't tried them all, it's good to have a knowledgeable draftmeister on the other side of the bar.

Their cask ale of the week was Cigar City Jai Alai IPA, a very big, hoppy tasting, cloudy live ale . They feature a different cask brew every week.. The beermeisters are friendly and well informed. A new favorite for me.

I will definitely be back to try the food as well.

Great selection of craft beer in downtown St Pete. They just celebrated their 1st anniversary a couple nights before. Very small place inside, with plenty of tables outside. Was there on a Friday afternoon, it was kinda slow, and they were starting to set up for music that night in the courtyard. Came back later that night and there was a good crowd in the courtyard enjoying some decent bluegrass music. The beer selection was quite good, no macros & plenty of Florida beers. Only disappointment was no CCB, but I think I just caught them at a bad time. Service is very good, friendly and knowledgeable. Most drafts were in the $5.50 - $6 range. They do have music in the courtyard on most nights, which is a very nice place to sit and enjoy a great craft beer. The place to go in downtown for craft beer.

I was at The Ale and the Witch for the first time the other night and thought it was great. 30+ taps of American craft brews. Some really unique offerings (instead of having Dogfish Head 60 min they had Dogfish Head Theobroma, instead of cigar city regular Jai Alai they had the Cedar Aged Jai Alai), not just your standard micro brew taps you see everywhere else. I was there on a Mon night, so I can't really accurately comment on the atmosphere as I'm sure it is very different on the weekend, but when I was there it was very chill, not many people there at all. That being said it was a Mon night and they still had live music in the courtyard, which I think would be a great place to sit and enjoy a good beer when its not the summer months. Bartender had a good knowledge of the beers on tap and was very friendly. Food options are limited since they have no kitchen. They do offer some cold food including wraps, "cold pizza" and a beer cheese dip that they make every week with one of their beers on tap. They one I tried was made with Rogue Dead Guy Ale and was very good. If your in the mood for something hot they have the menus of places that deliver to the bar which included a couple pizza places, a couple sandwich shops and the burrito place that's right down the street. I ordered pizza, which was delivered to me at my seat at the bar. Any bar where you can have a pizza delivered without even having to leave you seat is ok in my book. Price was reasonable with drafts ranging from $5.50-$8.00, most of them seemed to be $6-$6.50 which I consider to be pretty good compared to the other local places that have craft beers (Independent, WoB) . My only complaint would be the bottle selection is almost non-existent, I think they only have a handful of different bottles, which are mostly for to go purposes. I also wouldn't mind some foreign varieties on tap, but at the same time I appreciate their All American selection.

Overall a really cool place that is my new favorite bar in St. Pete.

I have been to this bar a few times now. It is in downtown St. Petersburg about a block from Baywalk. The bar is inside a courtyard and has live outdoor music every night of the week except for Tuesday. The inside is roughly divided into two sections. The bar section has the bar (ofcourse) and some tables. The other half of the interior is the Witch's Gallary which features art for sale on the walls as well as long benches along two walls complete with cushions and throw pillows. It has 32 taps featuring American craft beers from around the country and occasionally they will have select bottle offerings. They have a very limited food menu (a turkey wrap or some hummus) but they let you bring in food from home or any of the surrounding restaurants. The staff is quick, knowledgable, and friendly; pretty much all you can ask for from a bartender. The beer is served in apropriate glassware, not plastic cups like another beer bar within walking distance of Baywalk. I will definitely be going back again soon.
