Notes / Commercial Description:
This ‘Northwest Classic’ is a harmonious blend of our pride and our passion inspired by the rugged and gentle terrain of the Cascade Mountains. Starting with the pristine waters of Icicle Creek, we add the intense flavors and aromas of our locally grown Yakima hops, pairing the citrusy floral hop notes with a sweet-malty undertone. It’s an IPA that’s breaking the barrier between bitter and bold.

Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a shaker style pint glass. Dated 072016. So about 3 months old.

Appearance: Dark orange to amber colored body with a full finger's worth of head from a center pour. Head is an off-white to almost khaki color. TONS of lacing left in the glass! Plenty of sediment in the bottom of the bottle.

Aroma: Definitely getting an almost old school hop smell from this one: earthy, wet hay and a bitter pungency. There is a definite malt presence on this one.

Taste: Bitter pine, earthiness, some lemon and grapefruit. Malt smooths out the ending. This has a bitterness to it at first and then is rounded out by that malt and is super easy to drink.

Mouthfeel: Good full mouthfeel with again a smoothness to it that makes it easy to drink and the lower abv and carbonation makes you want to drink it more. This is better right out of the fridge as it warms it becomes too bitter for me.

Overall: This is a really decent beer from Washington state and those Yakima hops shine through on this one. It's a tasty beer and needs maybe little more carbonation for me; but other than that it's a really well made beer.

Thanks to beertunes for this one.

Pour: On draft at Icicle Brewing in Leavenworth, WA. Appearance: Amber in color with a slight haze to it. Aroma: Very scant on the nose. Light hop notes. Taste: Follows the nose yet increasing in hoppy bitterness. Aftertaste: Follows the nose and taste. Overall. Ho-hum IPA. Easy drinker. Good. 3 out of 5.

When in Leavenworth, drink the local beer, and Icicle's Bootjack is one of the best examples.

It's an amber color, with a lot of foam that coats the glass and lasts quite a while.

This IPA is plenty hoppy, but it's the bready maltiness that sets it apart from a lot of other NW IPAs. It's a bit caramelly as well.

It's a very well crafted IPA, and one that I'm happy to have whenever I'm in the area.

On tap at Basin Street Bistro, Ephrata. Nice solid IPA, clear amber with sticky head. Hoppy aroma and taste, minor malts peek through the brew. Good example of the NW style.

I had this on draft at Icicle Brewing and at Munchen Haus. This is very good IPA coming out of Leavenworth, WA. Along the lines of a West Coast IPA. A nice combo of hops, pine, grapefruit, and zest. I will definitely have this again.
