A: pours a decently clear, amber gold, with a thin ring of foam, that holds on decently well
S: intense pepper, vinegar and spice, followed by a mixed white fruit bouquet and sharp cheese (less present), definitely some earthiness, definite funk, of course, smell of food items that have turned, in the most wonderful way
T: sharp funk and lemon immediately, with a boozy note, and an earthy following that is fairly distinctive, sour, but not overbearingly so, about in the middle in terms of acidity relative to the style, for beer people whose primary objection to the style is the over sourness, this might be a good entry point. After a while, the malt body starts to peer out from under the overt sourness of the beer in a way that I've either never seen before, or never noticed before. The body is biscuity and clean, and overall a welcome addition to the experience. There are hints of red apple here, not green, in a move that bucks the typical apple promotion in beers of this kind
M: a fullness I don't typically associate with a gueuze, which allows the malt to be present in a way it typically is not in these beers
O: Excellent, not the best gueuze I've ever had, but unlike some, it definitely has it's place, there is definitely a time when I would prefer this over other examples of the style. Well done!

Man, tough to come down too hard on this one, as the nose offers some really nice notes, Bretty phenols, something almost white wine like, light notes of plum and apple, really quite nice. The beer, though, is kept from greatness by a too-heavy body. It lacks lift, making the palate full and wet, and muting the interesting notes from the bacteria/yeast struggling to get through. If the carbonation could be a little more bouyant, I think it'd really get those flavors popping and make this a really great geuze. As it is, it's perfectly fine but not quite upper tier.

A great Gueuze, one of the best I've had so far. Quite balance and not that funky nor sour. It's tart nonetheless with a floral presence all along. Went well with an aged Comté cheese

A very enjoyable gueuze.

A - Slightly cloudy, golden orange, with a thin white head but good for a gueuze. Good carbonation. 4.25

S - Lactic but with an ever so faint fruitiness of apricots. 4.5

T - Not excessively sour. 4.5

MF -
