What ??? Girardin - one of the most respected traditional lambic producers - actually make a Pils - Yes!. This is the typical euro-pils. Fizzy with high carbonation, a very light color almost yellowy golden with a tinge of urine. Little taste but teases you with the belief that there may actually be some hops somewhere - can your Tongue find them?- mine couldn't. Uninspiring euro-norm pilsner "style" beer that I wouldn't wash my dog in. An ideosyncratic beer considering the pedigree of Girardin. A shockingly bland beer.
Note: I have only ever seen this once in my 12 years of visiting Belgium. This was tried at the In De Oude Pruim in Beersel (and this is where the Ulricher Extra Lager Tap Photo was taken by yours truly for the BA Avatar).

On tap at In De Oude Pruim.
This pilsner poured a clear, light amber color with white foam that settled to a thin coat that clung to the glass. The smell was mild: bready malt with a slight vegetal aroma. The taste was a modest bready malt with moderate hoppiness. Not bad. The mouthfeel was crisp with medium-light body with strong carbonation. The flavor lingered briefly, but overall clean. This was an OK Belgian pilsner. More of a novelty because of the brewer.

On tap at In de Oude Pruim. Pale gold with a healthy white froth that slowly descends to a pretty lacing. Light aroma of pale malt, grain, and hay. Slightly sweet malty flavor with bready notes and perhaps some touches of grass but nearly no noticeable hoppiness. Medium carbonation. Just maybe a hint of bitterness in the finish but not much. Stick to the Geuze.
