Bottled sept 2015, sampled June 2019
Appearance - deep brass, low white head, , dull luster
Aroma - old candy-sweet pale/carapils malt, medium-low perfumey hop, kinda plasticine lactic acid, medium-high fruitiness, low diacetyl, biscuit malt, overripe fruit NZ hop character, (Motueka?), faintly solvent,
Flavor- big peach flavor with medium malt sweetness and a weak acidity in the finish, big acetylaldehyde. not much bitterness, medium-high herbal hop.
Mouthfeel -medium-bodied , medium'low carbonation
Overall - not into this. I try to be openminded about sour beers but this isn't what you expect from a sour. tastes like NZ Pale ale with a pediococus contamination. To be fair, it is like 4 years old, but sour beer should age

From Miguel. In Teku glass. Playing Bacteria. Initial aroma suggested nice hoppyness, but faded quick and in mouth there was only a soft, boring sourness. Refreshing at least

Nice clear auburn/orange appearance. Fine head that dissipated quickly. Musty lemon smell with malted wheat. It's moderately sour. Malted wheat. Soft lemon notes. Some cinnamon and coriander flavours. Nice dry finish. Very refreshing.

i had to buy this given the two breweries involved in making it. interesting to see a listing for de proef too... this is a weird beer, i was let down by it, but its also just really different too, so as much as i didnt really love it, i loved how strange it was, and appreciate it in that context. the appearance is great, clearish for a sour beer, with some orange notes making it look a little richer in the glass, and nearly a full inch of white head. it has a funny nose, very lactic heavy, acidic off the bat, astringent and unfamiliar, perhaps even kettle soured, its tough to tell because its rather aggressive. some grain cereal honey sweetness is there too, and a more conventional type yeast, loosely saison or belgian giving some more predictable spice notes to it as well. in the taste, the yeast flavor is super odd, way different from what i am used to in these, and i dig that, but i just dont like this that much. its a bit of a gut buster, sharp and definitely going to sit a little heavy down there. white grape like champagne for kids, lemon, and a fish thing that neither claystation nor myself can identify. the fishy thing gets more intense as it warms, past brine to downright scaley and stinky, all very acidic. its cleaner in the finish though, just not sure whats really going on with this one. crazy label, makes very little sense. worth picking up if you like the sensory challenge, but its definitely not among my favorite beers from these breweries...

Murky golden / light-brown. Head quickly dissipated. Smell has ginger, lots of elderflower, bittersweet citrus. Sour and refreshing taste. Very dry. Tasty.
