Style: American Double / Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
“Yellow belly” — a person who is without courage, fortitude, or nerve; a coward.

To us, one of the most cowardly deeds is to act anonymously, hiding behind a group. A signifying trait of institutionalised racism.

This beer is brewed to celebrate all things new, open minded and progressive. A peanut butter biscuit stout with no biscuits, butter or nuts. Taste, enjoy, and don’t be prejudiced.

Pours an almost black dark brown with a thin khaki head that dissipates very quickly with minimal lacing. The aroma is freshly cooked peanut butter cookies. The flavor follows the nose and a little dark chocolate joins the party. The feel is a bit thin for the style, but overall this is fantastic.

Love the smell. Nice medium body. The taste is a tad bitter and not quite as sweet as I'd like. Maybe I'm nursing a cold. Still many good qualities.

2017 bottle poured into a tulip. Opaque and viscous on the pour with a small tan head. Huge peanut butter aroma. Also some chocolate and, yes, biscuity malt. The peanut butter is less up front on the palate, allowing the chocolate and biscuit to shine. A floral bitterness as well. Overall great balance. Outstanding.

Appearance: poured pitch black with a pancake batter colored head.

Smell: muted peanut butter at chilled temp but as it warmed up, it became a nutty Butterfinger candy bar with notes of toffee and chocolate. Heavenly.

Taste: amazingly sweet with notes of peanut butter, chocolate, toffee and a bready biscuit with honey. So rich and indulgent. Just a touch of bitterness at the very finish.

Mouthfeel: very rich and smooth. Full-bodied. Like a liquid candy bar.

Overall: superb. Apparently it doesn't have really peanut butter so I assumed this may taste a bit artificial. While I may be just slightly right, it was still delicious and it did taste 'natural' without that gritty artificial taste.

Look: Dark cola brown with a thin khaki head. No activity visible.

Smell: Decadent peanut butter cup on the nose. There might be just a hint of fruity coffee and alcohol on the finish. But it is light.

Taste: Dates, figs, and fruit leather on the attack. Very sweet. Then a body of acrid milk chocolate and a kiss of peanuts.

Feel: Sweet. Almost cloyingly so. Mild bitterness. No alcohol. Thin given the ABV.

Overall: Cool packaging and great nose. Besides that it is pretty underwhelming. Weirdly fruity given the ingredients. At this price tag I’d be hesitant to pick it up again.

11.2oz bottle. Pours a blackish dark brown color with no head. Virtually no lacing. The aroma is very sweet with lots of milk chocolate, peanut butter, cookies, roasted malts, and caramel. The taste is peanut butter and biscuits followed up by milk chocolate and espresso. Has a bit of a chocolate covered salted pretzel kind of taste. Sweet chocolate and peanut butter finish. Borders on being too sweet. Pretty noticeable alcohol presence. Mouthfeel is lighter than expected. A pretty whacky beer that is certainly on the expensive side, but worth trying at least once.
