Style: American Imperial Stout

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 11.00%

Availability: Rotating

Notes / Commercial Description:
“Yellow belly” — a person who is without courage, fortitude, or nerve; a coward.

To us, one of the most cowardly deeds is to act anonymously, hiding behind a group. A signifying trait of institutionalised racism.

This beer is brewed to celebrate all things new, open minded and progressive. A peanut butter biscuit stout with no biscuits, butter or nuts. Taste, enjoy, and don’t be prejudiced.

It took me a minute to wrap my mind around this one because all other chocolate peanut butter beers I've had have been liquid Reeses. This is straight liquid Butterfinger, I mean that in a good way

Pours black with less than a finger of khaki foam. Head retention is okay. Aroma is caramel, toffee, molasses, and candied sugars. Toasted and roasted malts behind the sugary display up front. Flavor profile is caramel, toffee, molasses, dark chocolate, and cocoa. Roasted and toasted malts still play a big role behind, forming a huge, supportive base. Mouth feel is thick with a hearty, velvety texture. Overall, lots of sugary notes that are balanced out by bitter, balanced malts. It's a hearty, flavorful stout through and through.

Served in a 12oz snifter from a 12oz bottle.

L: Poured from a bottle to a snifter glass. Had a jet black color and a thick, opaque consistency. There was a small amount of foamy, tan-colored head that quickly dissipated. Below average lacing.

S: A very enticing aroma of chocolate, roasted malt, peanut butter, coffee, and biscuits.

T: Tasted of a bit of roasted malt (somewhat in the finish), a lot of peanut butter (not too much), some biscuits, light hops, lots of chocolate, and a tinge of coffee. An incredibly robust, complex, and powerful flavor. Sweet and tasty. No idea how they achieved the peanut butter flavor without using peanut butter.

F: A solid amount of carbonation with a silky smooth finish. Full-bodied.

O: This is an exceptionally well made stout. Very much drinkable. It's dessert in a glass.

Glad to split a bottle of this rarity, which pours jet black with a 1 finger tan head that faded slowly and left good spotty lacing. Great packaging on this bottle.

Smells of peanuts, roasted nuts, chocolate, cocoa powder, chocolate chip cookies, peat moss, smoked grains, soy sauce and molasses. Impressive how they made it smell nutty without using nuts, but it still brings nice chocolate aromas.

Tastes just like it smells with tons of chocolate and toasted nuts, bringing vanilla and the biscotti flavors together for a really complex brew. A bit too much soy sauce in the mix but that thankfully gets balanced out by the char and chocolate for a very tasty and impressive imperial stout.

Pours an almost black dark brown with a thin khaki head that dissipates very quickly with minimal lacing. The aroma is freshly cooked peanut butter cookies. The flavor follows the nose and a little dark chocolate joins the party. The feel is a bit thin for the style, but overall this is fantastic.
