Poured from a 500ml bottle into a tulip glass. Note, this beer is three years old, I bought it without checking dates. Hopefully it aged well.
Look is a deep clear amber with no head.
Aroma is extremely malty with a dark cherry note at the end.
Taste is malty astrigent with a deep dark fruit after taste.
This beer has aged ok, definitely gotten a little astrigent, but a good beer to try.

This beer pours a clear pinkish bron with a small head. The aroma features notes of cherry, bitter almond, prune, sweet bread, cinnamon, date, booze, strawberries. The flavor leads with dates and brown sugar, with hazelnut, prunes, fairly strong bitterness, cedar, oak, vanilla, and banana bread. The mouthfeel is full and sticky, but not syrupy. Overall this is a classic tasting barleywine - rich and sweet, with layers of complexity. It developed well as it warmed.

Unknown vintage; drank 10/30/15 @ the Yarchives.
Poured from the bottle into a glass.
Opaque orange rust appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; strong lace.
Caramel, pineapple & pickle notes in the nose.
Medium thick, sticky mouthfeel.
Cloying caramel & sweet pineapple flavors up front; pickle & oak notes on the finish. Dry booze heat emerged as this warmed. I don't care what country this was brewed in; it's a gross American barleywine. Really bad.

Pours a hazy, copper color. 3/4 inch head of an off-white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of sweet malt, yeast, alcohol, hint of wood, and a hint of pale malt. Fits the style of an English Barleywine. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. There is also a distinct dryness and slight astringency. Tastes of alcohol, strong sweet malt, slight earthiness, pale malt, yeast, hint of metallic, and a hint of wood. Overall, good appearance, body and aroma are mostly alcohol, and the dryness and metallic notes are detrimental.

Pours a two-finger off-white head fades slowly leaving some lace. Cloudy amber color. Light-medium carbonation and medium bodied. Caramel nose, sweet malt, toffee and caramel flavor. Nice barleywine. Higher ABV is hidden. $7.60 for a 330ml bottle from Tullys Beer & Wine.

11.2 oz bottle. Pours very hazy amber gold with a smallish off white head that goes to a thin film and laces the glass.
The aroma is sweet bready malt with dark fruit and some booze and cola. Kind of like a fruit cake.
The flavor is sweet bready caramel malt with dark fruits and lots of hot booze and then a medium bitter finish that's a bit medicinal. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.
Overall, a nice English barley wine. It's like a sweet boozy fruit cake.

Bottles 10/29/14, best by 10/29/24: Pours cloudy amber orange color with a thick 2 finger foamy beige head that was full of bubbles of all sizes, dissipating very slowly and leaving good spotty lacing. The head collapsed and formed craters, but even after several minutes had a half finger layer of foam on top.
Smells of dark fruit and candied sugar like gummy bears up front, then tropical fruit like pineapple, guava, mango, orange, passionfruit and then bread pudding with a lot of syrup and/or caramel. It is a very sweet nose, almost like apricot jelly with brown sugar, toffee, wet citrus hops, tangerine, pear and Razzles candy. The fruity aroma is intense and there are some earthy and malty hints, but this is basically all potent sweet fruit. Complex and full of so much fruit I can't figure it all out or name it all, but I really like it.
Tastes like the nose, but sweeter and a little too cloying. Again the fruit and sweetness dominates, however it's so strong that it almost seems like the fruit has turned and started to rot leaving extra sugar and a tad more alcohol. The ABV is very well masked by the fruity complexities, and the additions of graham cracker, toasted grains and buttery crackers like a Ritz with the red wine cheese spread on top give it a fine malt base. Again, like the aroma the flavor is fruit controlled with a mix of dark fruit, candied sugar, brown sugar, gummy bears, wet citrus hops, pineapple, guava, mango, orange, passionfruit, tea leaf, piney hops, light peppery spices and then bread pudding with a lot of syrup and/or caramel. Very tasty, it got better as it warmed up and some of the hop bitterness showed up at the end to cut the sweetness; a very nice way to end each sip, well crafted.
Mouthfeel was creamy yet thick and chewy, the only thing holding it back was the amped up sweetness. Thankfully there is enough hops to keep it from going overboard on the sweetness, with a tremendous amount of complexities that makes this nice slow sipper which hid the ABV quite well. A single hop, single malt English-style barleywine which I definitely have again.

A: Copper body, lovely and gloopy, with a chunky head that dissipates into a fine mantle.
S: Soapy English hops. Fuggles, surely?
T: A straight down the middle barley wine in terms of flavour profile, but there is an emphasis on the hops. It's fairly sweet, but no JW Lees, and medicinal as well. Idiosyncrasies include an anaesthetising quality which must surely be the hops, and it is a hoppy one as it leaves a bitter aftertaste. There's a subtle sweet toffee backbone behind the hops.
O: I love Buxton, and here's to Evil Twin, Cheers!

Bronze color with a white head. Smells sweet and kind of grainy. It tastes like it smells, it's better than I thought it would be. But it's not my style of choice.
