by OlaB from Norway
Pours a deep dark-brown color with a small top of beige head that dissolves quickly. Aroma is of roasted malts, coffee, vanilla and dark chocolate. The taste is sweet and toasted with strong notes of coffee and dark chocolate in the back. Nicely ballance between the sweet and roasted notes. The finish has some slight bitterness and leaves a long and strong aftertaste. Mouthfeel is oily and smooth with a medium carbonation and a medium body.
A very nice and enjoyable porter.

Really big coffee presence in this refined porter. The base beer is very nice and shows some chocolate and dark fruits notes. The vanilla and coffee are a good addition. The moutfheel is smooth and gentle.
Fine brew

Pours near black with a thick brown head that has staying power but leaves only specks of lace. Nose is rich chocolate and coffee, with a bit of licorice and tobacco as well. Taste is about the same with firm bitterness to keep this from feeling sweet. Nice thick mouthfeel. Overall, another very good Buxton beer.

Bottled and possibly bottle conditioned
Pours a jet black body with massive foaming tan head that really sticks around
Aroma is a full on chock espresso roast
That in the flavour with gritty dirty hints of chilli

Served in a nonic.
Appearance: Thin black body with a tan head rising just about one finger's length above the body. Thin settling after a few sips.
Smell: Coffee and espresso scent with a dose which leaves you with a knife addicting after scent.
Taste: Smooth sweet coffee and bitter bitter coffee combined with more than a spoonful of malts.
Mouth: Medium to full bodied beer, feels like I just finished a slice of cofffee-chocolate cake minus the sugar. Good but not super sticky if you catch my drift.
Overall: Very good brew which surprised the hell out of me. Quality over quantity and worth grabbing if it crosses your eyes. Salud!

Really dark brown color with mocha head. Aroma is sweet with roasted malt and vanilla. Taste starts also sweet with lots of vanilla, roasted malts, sugar and some chocolate. Finish is quite bitter and roasty with lingering coffee flavor. Medium body and carbonation with smooth mouthfeel. Overall it's a really tasty porter with a sweet vanilla component, balanced out by a bitter, roasty coffee finish.

330ml bottle bought from Lighthouse Wines, Jordanstown
Poured jet black - nothing gets through even when held up to the light. Deep brown head poured thick and foamy then faded to nice thickish covering... very faint lacing...
Aroma - Big blast of strong espresso coffee and toasted malts, lots of sweet dark chocolate, oats, molasses, treacle, light blackcurrant/blackberry notes, toasted nuts, cocoa, leathery, woody, some faint vanilla traces, light spicy hops, burnt sugar...
Taste - Lots of dark bitter-sweet creamy chocolate and rich dark coffee to the fore, roasted malts, faint smoky notes, some licorice, some peppery hops, lots of toasted nutty notes, light molasses sweetness..
Feel - Very smooth and creamy with just a little sharpness after... full bodied... very drinkable for 7.4%
Overall - An outstanding brew and yet another fine beer from Buxton... recommended
