Look:
Quite a lot of fizz when poured out of the 22oz bottle. Beer is cloudy and a nice copper color.
Smell:
Smell is a bit odd with woodsy and tequila smells powering up. Earthy scents, hop aromas, and citrus scents all make themselves known. On the tail end, it smells a bit dirty and like cardboard.
Taste:
There is a slight bitterness at first (probably a mixture of hops and lime). It quickly moves to strong alcohol and tequila flavors. It is a bit overpowering for a bit because you cannot taste anything but. When the booze starts to fade, you can then taste some malt and a hint of beer. It fades out a bit dry and hoppy. The lime/tequila taste hangs on for awhile.
Feel:
Medium body but a bit on the thin side. Feels syrupy at first but fades dry.
Overall:
This is pretty unique as there aren't too many tequila infused beers. I know this is a Pale Ale, but there could definitely be more of a malty flavor so it doesn't seem so much like a malt liquor. It's decent but should just be more balanced between malts/beer and the spirits.

This is a truly unique beer. I have no idea how old the one I'm drinking is (found a can at a Total Wine in South Carolina), but it still smells *fresh*. Lots of agave and lime. All of the tequila flavors are there too -- plus what I imagine is the taste of the barrel -- minus the drunk bite of real tequila. This one deserves a higher rating for its uniqueness alone.

Trying the 2021 edition....I will absolutely not be having this again. I don't wanna say I wish I could get my money back because it's an expiremental thing but I lowkey kinda fucking hate this and would rate it lower if it wasn't for the pure concept. This tastes like straight up mint dental floss to me. Idk whats going on or what I expected but yeah. Dental floss. The nose was more complex I got some lime and hops...but yeah it all blended to dental floss. I should have known better this wouldn't be good to me with the pale ale base as that just never seems to work for me in a barrel.

Plenty of lime and agave, not much tequila barrel though. Since the fruit components were strong and the hops a bit muted, this was a bit too sweet. This was a bit of a disappointment.

Odd that this says "retired" because I just had it yesterday - perhaps they are getting rid of their last few kegs? Anyway, this was a very lime-flavored beer for sure, one step from a Mike's Hard Limeade or something like that. I didn't get much of the tequila barrel flavoring, but then again, I haven't gotten into barrel flavors yet, so it's possible that it was there and I just didn't recognize it as such. Maybe they will bring this one back for Cinco de Mayo some year.

Pours a cloudy copper color with little head. Not much nose at all. It's drinkable. Nice flavor to it. Has a light lime over a hint of wood with some sweetness persistent until the very end then it bitters. This Web site has 4.80 as the abv but the bottle clearly reads 8.1%

22 oz bottle. Pours very hazy dark gold with a big creamy white head that retains well and laces the glass a little.
The aroma is sweet creamy malts, fruit (lime) and salt with some tequila.
The flavor is subdued - sweet wheaty malts with some lime and an odd bitter tequila finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied but fairly watery.
Overall, an interesting tequila beer - a bit subdued.

Tequila barrel aging is prevalent, lime zest accent tastes more like lime peel because it is too bitter.
