It's located in a large, re-purposed freight house across the tracks from Union Station. As such, it has spacious, cavernous wooden ceilings with large windows letting in lots of natural light. While seating is fairly well spaced out, it feels roomier. Walls are adorned with old school German advertisement posters for coffee and the like. A well made wooden bar stands in the eating room giving servers a place to prepared coffee drinks. Otherwise, the main bar stands between the ornate entryway, and the eating room. The bar itself has a few TVs (something not in the eating area) with a large selection of liquors on the wall. Beers on tap are minimal, but all feature some sort of German aspect. Most are direct imports from Germany itself. Service is incredibly friendly and helpful. Food is great as well, especially with daily specials that can turn into quite the deal on the right day.

Just like the first reviewer, I stumbled on Grunauer on a visit to Jack Stack's.

Atmosphere is nothing unusual. Large cavern-like, high-ceiling room that occupies the historic Freight House. However, the seating is broken up nicely and it doesn't feel like you're lost in a warehouse. Quality of beer was good. I ordered a litre of Czechvar for $12. A friend ordered a pint of Boulevard amber for $4.5. Service was good for food as we were there for dinner. Beer selection was decent with 12 beers on tap:
Weihenstephan Hefeweiss
Czechvar (more appropriately known as Budvar!!)
Hofbrau Dunkel
Hofbrau Original
Reissdorf Kolsch
Ayinger Celebrator
Boulevard Tank 7
Boulevard Single-wide IPA
Boulevard Amber Ale
Boulevard Filtered Wheat
Boulevard Seasonal

and over 30 in bottles to include:
Boulvard Pilsner, Dark Truth Stout, Sixth Glass Quad, Pale Ale, and a selection of Samiclaus, Leffe, Hacker-Pschorr, Paulaner, Salvator, Hofbrau, Kapuzinger, etc.

Not bad! I was most impressed with finding a very decent selection of Boulevard's beers on tap.

Food was very good and somewhat pricey for the portions you received (this is from a guy that lives in Milwaukee where the German food is fabulous and you get good portions)

Wiener Schnitzel at $19.00
Schweinebraten at $18.00
side of red cabbage for $4.00
side of spaetzle for $4.00

Located in the old freight house behind Union Station just a block from the Crown Center Westin Hotel. I stumbled on this by accident when leading a group over to Jack Stack Barbecue. Saw the Hofbrau Umbrellas and then the name and I knew a pop in was in order. Actually popped in twice. Both nights being week nights attendance was sparse. Bar area was smallish with a mix of age groups and attentive servers. I want to try the food so I may run by next week for a meal.

Beer selection was fair. Draught included some lagers and wheats from Germany along with Reisssdorf, and Czechvar on one end of the bar and four or five Boulevard varieties on the other end. I enjoyed a Doublebock on draught the first night and a Czechvar before dinner at Lydias the Second. Glassware was appropriate and cleaned. Bottle selection was smallish 20 or 30 varieties some rarities and some common and macros.

Overall, I'd return mostly for the food which looked and smelled yummy and also the chance to sit outside and enjoy a beer in the biergarten...
