Style: Irish Red Ale

Alcohol by volume (ABV): 5.00%

Availability: Year-round

Notes / Commercial Description:
New from May 2011

Like an Irishman on holiday in the Canaries, this beer has a red tint but with a chilled out mellow feel.

A traditional Irish style with a twist, it has subtle caramel notes balanced with a pleasant fragrant aroma from New Zealand and Australian hops. Goes really well with roast beef, lamb or a traditional Irish stew, but beware: keep out of direct sunlight.

Pours copper with a fading head.
Nose shows soft fruity ester, some toasty and bready malt.
Flavours include sweet bready malt and spicy hops with a balancing bitterness.
Well-made.

Quite a nice red Irish ale. Sweet, maybe a little too sweet but not too strong in alcohol so could use this one as a session ale. Nice for a change from my usual IPA or APA. Not unlike 5am Saint from Brewdog. More understated. All in all a decent beer from a very good brewery. Would recommend.
