A fizzy yellow beer. It tastes like every other fizzy yellow beer in the world. It gets Points for not being skunky. Light malts and hops. Light flavor. Strange medicinal taste as it warms. Weirdly sweet. Mouthfeel is thin. Finish is clean. Aftertaste is sweet and medicinal.

Pours typical for your fizzy yellow beer. Pale yellow color, white frothy head that disappears if you turn your back and forget about it for 5 seconds. Spicy hop aroma, almost medicinal. The taste is just downright odd. You see it in the glass, and you smell it, and it screams "Hi, I'm just a typical fizzy yellow beer." Then you taste it, and it doesn't taste remotely similar to a typical fizzy yellow beer. It tastes worse. There's no fizzy to it. It's like someone took carbonated water, mixed it with hop tea, and added a drop of yellow food coloring. Then, they let it go almost flat and bottled it. But they thought it wasn't nasty enough, so they opened the bottles and poured some cleaning supplies in it, then bottled it back up. I can't even begin to describe the funky off flavor in this beer. Medicinal doesn't cover it. The mouthfeel is pretty much the standard fare for tap water. Drinkability? If you are a masochist, maybe you could drink more than one.

On a positive note, it wasn't skunky.

Just another boring Japanese lager. Watery- very light texture, ricey, corny flavour. Pretty similiar to Asahi, Kirin, Sapporro etc....Reall, really, really, really hard to say anything about it, because there is asuch a distinct lack of flavour, very easy to drink gos down like water.

833 ml bottle in NOLA. Pours golden with white head. Aroma is of grassy hops and bready malt. Body is light and slightly crisp. Some sweet malt and hint of hops on the palate. Finish is non-existent. Good water replacement.

his was my first Japanese rice lager, it was a bit like Asahi, and it wasn't very good.

It pours a clear, pale gold.

The nose is nonexistent.

The taste is super-subdued with some "beer" flavors, mineral water, and a pinch of hop.

This beer is really just one of those out there for tickers, I have on'y seen it at a few elect places though.

1 pint 5.4oz. Brown bottle. Witty comments: "Orion is oasis fresh." The "beer of beers" and a few other comments.

Pours a dull weak looking yellow. Big head and streaming with bubbles. The head disappears as fast as it can. The smell is watery and has a rice quality to it. I detect a sour honey smell sneaking through.

Not much flavor. Very bland. Some lemon and a tang aftertaste. I think they tried to copy American light beers and messed up.

It has a crispness to the mouthfeel but nothing special. After that it is straight down hill. I can't recommend this beer for any reason. Give me a soda please.

Orion Premium Draft Beer
It comes in a tall brown 21.4oz bottle with the embossed lettering of - Orion Beer.
There's a bunch of impressive hype on the label:
"THE BEER OF BEERS", it shouts.
Orion is Oasis-Fresh (just when was it fresh? - There's no date)
Orion is Brisk (so is stepping outside in your underwear when it’s -5°F)
Orion is Original (So?)
Orion is Natural (Piss is natural too, but you don't find anyone shouting that out)
It pours (poors) a pale urine sample yellow with a thin white head.
The smell is like rice water with a bit of sweet candy in the background.
The malt is very thin. Flavors of white bread and white rice with karo syrup mixed in are not altogether unpleasant, just nothing I would think to whip up in the kitchen, even if I were starving, and that's all I had. A slight citrus (Kool-Aid Lemonade) bitterness peeks through as it warms. An ever so slight metallic bite is noticed from time to time. But mostly, this is a thinly malted, lightly flavored, overly sweet beer.
If Burpability were a Rating factor, I would have to give Orion a 4.
I'm burping like a bastard and they are fairly loud and nasty burps. A wet guttural emission from the deepest, dankest depths produce the sounds of a thousand tormented voices. If you happen to be in Okinawa and notice some poor lost soul swigging from his bottle of Orion, turn around and go the other way!

Appearance – Very light yellow in color with a decent head that showed a bit of retention and some fizzy carbonation underneath.

Smell – Light, ricey grain that’s not as offensive as some.

Taste – The singular grain flavor finishes with an ashy kind of sweetness that left me cold.

Mouthfeel – Light with a little carbonation. This one felt cheap in the cheeks.

Sinkability – I’m not a big fan of Japanese beers, but this one was sub-par at that.

There was a time when I thought that this beer was good.

After having received a free Orion t-shirt following a recent trip, I decided to revisit this beer.

I still think the t-shirt is great, but the beer, unfortunately, was a drain pour, something that resembles malty water with a corn syrup aftertaste.

I will be skipping this beer from here on out.

No head, light yellow with a slight tinge of orange.
Smells of rice and corn.
Tastes like anonymous beer. Next to no hop flavor. Barely even a taste let alone any after taste. Very lightly carbonated. Drink this only when the only other option is to drink spit.

Pours with a pure white, two-finger head that goes slowly to a ring and leaving a good lace. Light carbonation and light bodied. Crystal clear golden amber color. Nose is weak malt. Flavor is bland, boring and inoffensive; sweet but insipid. Corn aftertaste. Buy only if you are bored with the macro lights. Cheap at $2.95 for a 633ml bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.

633ml bottle that proudly states on the label, three times in case you are dull, that this is "the beer of beers."

Appearance was very pale. Slightly off yellow, sickly color. Very light head. The smell was also very light and unimpressive. Somewhat sweet.

Taste is like every other aspect of this beer....a little strange and totally unimpressive. Very light and sweet. Hints of fruit [passion fruit?]. The mouthfeel was light and crips.

Overall, my one glass of this beer was enough. A very odd beer that seems to have taken a wrong turn somewhere. Definitely not recommended, except for the novelty of saying you've drunk a beer from Okinawa. I've been there, done that. No need for a repeat performance.

Poured a 2 finger head, a very pale golden color. I didnt get too much smell out of it, it kind of reminded me of the beer i drank in college. the taste was crisp but not really much after that. The mouthfeel was a little spicy. I would probably drink it again just to hang out just to drink.

The beer was a given as a gift to me by a friend of mine in a 633 ml. brown bottle with lots of self serving boasts on the label. The pour had the look of an ultra pale force carbonated mass produced lager. The smell was almost like tap water allowed to flow for a few moments over some cereal grains. The taste was not offensive, but was not anything to boast about. Basically a crisp, dry, grainy flavor with some malty sweetness thrown in. The hops were very light, but were not totally absent. The mouthfeel was light and watery. It is not a beer I’d spend any money on, no matter what the label says.

12 oz poured into an pilsner glass

I know now why the pilsner glass is recommended for these lagers, it looks, smells and almost tastes like one. A 2 finger head forms and dissipates slowly, golden straw color. The taste was like a pilsner but grew stale about a third into the beer. Couldn't finish it

The beer sets in the glass with a pertinent sized white head on top a clear gold body with decent lace forming as the head evaporates. Typical lager malt dominated nose crisp and clean and refreshing as far as that goes. Front is sweet, the top skinny and the finish highly carbonated, scarcely hopped with a malt dry aftertaste, archetypal lager/pils, nothing more nothing less.

Pale yellow in appearance... appears to be highly carbonated. Decent, thick head which disipates slowly (that alone sets it apart from most other japanese brews I've tried).

Malty corn-y aroma... smells like kirin/sapporo/bud/etc etc.. bleh

Light corn taste... a touch of malt... reminds me of Bud Light... nothing going on here.

Thin, moderately carbonated mouthfeel.... rather boring.

Drinkable because its mostly inoffensive, but also incredibly boring.. bleh.

A - Pale, clear yellow with a frothy head. Practically no retention or lacing.

S - Unappealing grainy, corny aroma. A touch of skunkiness hit me right after opening, but it seemed to fade over time.

T - Overly sweet to start, with some sourness immediately afterwords. Stale grains, a metallic flavor, and a slight hoppy bitterness finish things up.

M - Watery with an excessive amount of carbonation.

D - I guess this is drinkable as far as cheap macros go, but I was not impressed at all. Definitely not one of the better Japanese rice lagers.

Yellow, with a white head. Lace is impressive for style. Better than average.

Nothing on the nose: some grain and a little earthiness.

Almost flavorless; some rice and musky hops say hello but that's about it. Super thin and watery.

Lots of carbonation, not to much effect. Basically a very poor drink.

Hopefully, I'm reviewing the right beer here. My bottle says "Premium Draft Beer" on it, but the logo and Japanese script are totally different. Why can't these people learn to read and write in English?

Appearance- Extremely clear, pale yellow with a continueing effervecence. Decent, thick head which disipates prettys slowly and leaves a thick lace behind.

Aroma- Malty with some bittering hops and lots of corn. Makes me think of Bud.

Taste- The bittering hops aren't strong, but they are right out there in front. After that, you get sour-mash and corn.

Mouthfeel- Light body that stays effervescent all the way through the tasting experience. Carbonation level about right.

Drinkability- It's about what you would expect for a macro-American lager.

Pours clear, pale gold, with a thick, dense white head. Lots of lacing on the glass. Looks like a really nice pilsner.
Mild, soapy hops come through most in the aroma. Clean, with crispy, grainy pils malt. Nothing great, but there aren't any apparent flaws.
The flavor comes across as flat and emotionless. I hope for a vibrant, sparkling texture, but this is rather weak bodied and underwhelmingly carbonated. Strange, because the carbonation is there, but fails to add much life to the brew. If it's possible for beer to taste glassy and transparent, this is it. The finish is actually kinda watery, with a dry, vapidly bready aftertaste that's not quite pleasant. Mild hops are lackluster, and exist simply to provide balance. I think this might be equal to Coors Light in terms of the level of flavor.
I bought this mainly for the novelty of trying an Okinawan beer, and for the sturdy looking large bottle that looks great for homebrewing. I didn't have any expectations good or bad, but there's far better beers to be had from the nation of Japan.

It pours a crisp clear gold with a very small head and no lacing. It smells very similar to the USA macrolagers, except a bit stronger (stronger not always better). Its a sweet smell with only a touch of hops. The taste is also very generic. Its incredibly sweet all the way through with a slightly metallic aftertaste. Mouthfeel is a bit thin with average carbonation. There's nothing foul in this beer, so the drinkability is rather high. However, I probably won't be buying this beer again.

Poured out a clear yellow/straw color with a soapy white one finger head that quickly disappeared and left no traces of it's existence.

Smelled like cheap beer. Natty Ice comes to mind. Alcohol, grain, and a little bit of corn.

Taste was mostly corn and rice, but not as clean tasting as any of the other Japanese Rice Lagers I've had. I expected something I fully wouldn't like but not anything like this.

High carbonation made for a clean finish and easy drinkability if you can stand the taste.

Pale lemony amber with a few fine specks if one allows direct sunlight to enter the glass like I'm doing. The cap is a fraction darker than pure white, which gives it a rich, classy look. The texture and persistence aren't too shabby either, nor is the quality and quantity of lace deposition. Orion is a pretty good looking beer.

If blinded, then allowed to take a sniff, I'd have said American macro lager. I don't expect the flavor to be such a dead ringer for that style, but the nose is. A whiff of untoasted grain and a whiff-and-a-half of musky hops is about it.

The only difference between Orion and... say... Miller Genuine Draft, is that this beer is a little sweeter and has less flavor overall. The first thing to hit the taste buds is a short blast of rice juice sugariness, followed by a slightly longer herbal spiciness from what tastes like German (or Czech) hops. In the end, the paper thin flavor profile collapses into a watery muddle that features a minimal amount of prickly carbonation.

Prior to the fleeting tongue sizzle on the back end, the bubbles don't do much. They certainly don't energize what can only be described as a lackluster mouthfeel. Sure, this stuff might be drinkable in the 'ease of' sense, but not in the infinitely more important 'enjoyability' sense.

I can't remember a thing about the four Japanese rice lagers that I drank prior to this one. If anything, this is even more of a generic style than American macro lager (and that's saying something). The only English words on the brewery's website are 'For Your Happy Time'. Actually, no time is the right time for Orion Premium Draft Beer. My time would have been happier if I hadn't spent $3.79 for the bottle.

633 ml bottle poured into pint glass leaves thick white foam with a clear, bubbly light straw colored liquid.

Slight aroma of faint barely and floral hops.

Slightly sweet barley taste followed by a slight hop bitterness.

Feel is very light, very little body.

Quenching and one could put away many of these.

I bought this for the novelty of it. Similar to a lot of light lagers but a little bit cleaner maybe.
