Reviewed from notes. Poured from a 750 mL bottle into a Cigar City Brewing Hunahpu Day snifter glass.

A: Very black, essentially opaque. Forms a two-finger tan head that fades quickly atop fairly low visible carbonation.

S: Roasted malts, milky sweetness and roasted coffee. Dried tobacco and just a hint of hop bitterness.

T: Roasted malts, burnt coffee. A touch of lactose sugar, but this is nearly overwhelmed by the roast bitterness. I don't get much caramel. Dried tobacco, and coffee that was left on the burner too long. Finishes with lingering roasted malt bitterness.

M: Body seems average for a porter (though this is labeled "imperial"). Low carbonation sensation, and the alcohol flavors are well-hidden.

O: While nothing to write home about, this does have big, nice roasty flavors. But the milk and caramel don't pull through much. But certainly drinkable.

750ml bottle. Served in a stemmed glass. Pours a medium brown body, reasonably opaque with a one finger white head, fair retention and no lacing. Smells of milk chocolate, coffee, touch of banana, light spice, light earthiness. Flavour follows the nose; mostly milk chocolate and coffee. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, creamy, nicely carbonated, smooth and silky.

Drank 5/3/14 on draft @ Fischman's.

Brown hue.

Tan head; decent lace.

Strong chocolate & milk nose.

Medium thick, creamy mouthfeel.

Whole milk & chocolate syrup flavors up front; espresso notes emerge as it warms. Sweet and enjoyable, but one's enough!

Midnight body, fizzy short-lived chocolate head. Smell is sweet, milk caramel and alcohol burn. The flavor is much more favorable but flawed; fresh coffee, vanilla, and sweet caramel shining through, roasty malt on the finish. As tasty as everything is (made possible by my sweet tooth), the whole production is watered down, and the alcohol is still observable on the finish. Body is, sadly, thin, fizzy, and greasy.
The concept is right up my alley, but the realization falls pathetically short. Any favorably sweet coffee-cream-caramel smells or flavors are either tainted with alcohol, diluted, or not there at all. Considering the price (investment) and how much I wanted to like this, my low score really says something about how disappointing this beer was.

750 ml bottle into tulip glass, no bottle dating. Pours fairly pitch black color with a 2 finger dense tan head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings around the glass. Aromas of big milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Fantastic aromas with awesome complexity and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee/caramel, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of huge milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, nuttiness, light herbal, and roast/toasted earthiness. Light herbal/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of milk chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, cream, toasted dark bread, and roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Incredible complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee/caramel, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great roasted bitter/sweet balance and zero cloying sweetness after the finish. Light-medium carbonation and medium-full body; with a very smooth, creamy/silky, and lightly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is very well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an incredible imperial porter style! All around fantastic complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malt, coffee/caramel, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth to sip on for the ABV. A highly enjoyable offering.

Dark brown black with little head. Coffee roast with caramel and chocolate. Rich and creamy but a bit dry. A little sweeeness. All malts. Medium bodied. Solid Porter with a lot of great flavors.

This year's Yodo Con Leche was roasted using the "teabag" approach to coffee additions. Basically it was seeped with freshly roasted coffee, big grounds, akin to french press or bigger. This added a ton of roasties on the nose while still giving a full, sweet, milky coffee flavor. Silky mouth feel. Excellent beer - the best this brewery makes.

This is one of the most pleasing, drinkable and all around interesting Porters I've had in a while. This is not my favorite style and I'd drink this again and again.

Rich, chocolaty, vanilla, whiskey, coffee, maple syrup, Mexican spices and the list goes on and on for this most drinkable rich dark brew. Everything you'd want in a Porter or a Stout.

Thoroughly enjoyed form a growler via Jungle Jims in a pint glass. This excellent porter pours a muddy brownish black with a very nice head of medium dark brown foam that settles to a thick ring, light pool, and spotty lacing. Nose of big dark chocolate, rich coffee, sweet lactose, light spice, and heavy caramel. Flavors exceed the nose with rich sweet dark chocolate and smooth dark coffee blended with caramel on all sides fading into the back with a dark berry and light spice note of herbal hops and sweet milk sugars. Smooth and coating with a lightly bitter sweet chocolate aftertaste. Excellent. have had very few brews form this brewer, but if the others have the attention to detail this one has then I am all in and looking for more.

Can't believe my friend paid $18 for this. It has virtually no taste. There is some sweetness when it first hits the tongue, but there is no after taste.

Poured from a chilled bomber into a room temp pub glass.

A: Pours a rich chocolate brown with a creamy khaki head which quickly settles into a thin, cascading layer which maintains well.

S: This beer has amazing aromas once it warms a little. Big notes of coffee, chocolate, caramel and spices make a delicious-tasting bouquet.

T: Big flavors of coffe and caramel, smooth and well-balanced, dominate. A pleasant coffee aftertaste settles on the palate.

M: Carbonation gives the beer a slight crispness for a porter; the body seems light for a dark beer with so must robust flavor.

O: A thoroughly enjoyable porter with great flavors that isn't hard to wade through. I'm wondering how sitting in the dark for a few months will change it. This is a must-have!

On tap, served in snifter. Has a great coffee based profile, looks like an iced coffee too. Mouthfeel is full bodied and smooth without going into sticky territory. Tastes sweet but balanced with the acidity of the coffee and the milky undertones. Fantastic beer, great for sipping at the beginning or end of a night. 5 Rabbit knocked this one out of the park.

(Served in a nonic)

A- 4 This beer pours an obsidian black body with a thick cocoa cream head and a few bubbles gliding up the side of the glass.

S- 4 The caramel cream aroma has some banana esters hints and a dark roasted malt character underneath.

T-4.5 The nice mellow Costa Rican coffee has a roundness with some chocolate notes and a sweetened condensed milk caramel note in the finish but it is not overly sweet.

M- 4 This beer has a medium mouthfeel with a gentle frizz prick that hits the tongue and no alcohol heat noticed.

O- 4.5 This is a great beer in that it is a very sessionable stout and really does a great job of capturing the flavor of costa rican coffee and sweetened condensed milk with no bitterness and good roasted malt support underneath.

Served in a Boulevard snifter tulip.

Final beer of the night here at VDubb's, something that sounded right up our alley. It pours a slightly murky sienna topped by a finger of wan khaki foam. The nose comprises toasted almond, light marzipan, mild cocoa powder, light heavy cream (or maybe some strong-ish vanilla ice cream), and a bit of roasted malts for the sake of it. The taste brings in more of the same, the nuts, cream, and malts really combining for a unique flavor combination reminiscent of Latin desserts I've sampled in my past. The body is a lithe medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a mostly smooth feel. Overall, a nice beer that accomplishes its taste goal rather well. Good times.

Poured from 750ml bottle into a dimpled English "pot" pint glass.
Dark brown in color, with a moderate head of tan foam.
Aroma-Coffee, toasted malt, raw sugar
Taste-Caramel, coffee with milk, milk chocolate, a bit of a dry finish.
A bit on the sweet side, this brew would be a nice counterpoint to spicy Mexican or Indian fare.
