5 Rabbit is an elegant beer that shows hints of light caramel and honeyed malt notes, carefully balanced with a sophisticated European noble hop aroma, with fruity and spicy flavors.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass at Beer Head Pub in Schaumburg, IL. The appearance is a clear golden yellow color with a giant white head. The aroma is mostly malt with some hops. The taste follows the nose.

I read some of the reviews before I had this beer. I was skeptical of the bad ones - was it really THAT bad? In short, yes, yes it is. Or rather, this bottle was. I have a suspicion that this beer goes south quick in the bottle, and with no date or any indication of freshness - that might explain such a mixture of reviews.

Look: Clear, medium golden with thick head that disappears quickly but leaves some nice lacing. At this point, I was hopeful for a good beer.

Smell: Sweet, stuffed full of malt and taffy, with a hint of pungent skunk on the end. Underwhelming, but not off-putting.

Taste: This is the big problem for this beer. The skunkiness cuts through everything, from the initial taste through to the end. Under it, there is subtle caramel, herby hops, and underripe vegetables. To be clear, there is a place for skunkiness - even a lot of skunkiness - but this beer absolutely bombs it. I am loathe to finish the rest of this six pack.

Feel: Odd amount of carbonation. Just enough to add bitterness but otherwise extremely flat. A very watery beer as well.

Overall: I would have a hard time placing this more than a slight notch above most of your typical domestic beers. In fact, there is at least a certain charm about sitting down with a bud/coors/PBR or whatnot. But this beer comes with all the pretension and over the top marketing that we have sadly come to associate with good craft beer. This is C-grade brew masquerading as cultured and expertly-made beer. Highly dissapointed.
