Received as an extra.

Poured into a pint glass, the body is a clear golden color with crystal clarity. The head is off-white, peachy colored, and clings to the sides of the glass leaving a consistent lacing pattern. The soapy subs die in a slow fashion and hang around for most of the pint. Decent amount of carbonation present.

The aroma is immediately reminiscent of German/Czech lagers to me. The Saaz hops are the most prominent and up front. Then as the beer warms slightly, the fruitiness of the malts shine through very easily. There is a sweetness to the aroma, mostly from this honeyish malty scent, but also there might be some trace diacetyl, which isn't totally uncalled for in this style. Pleasant, but nothing special.

Very flavorful! Rich, honey malts take over from here. There is a respectable hop bite up front, and maybe a slight lingering bitterness in the finish, but it really does just act in a balancing role. Those sweet malts take center stage and carry with them hints of yellow apples, golden raisins, and honey. Grassy hops linger...

Excellent texture on the beer, with a good amount of carbonation that is neither too effervescent nor is it too creamy. It has a softer texture though, and the body is very full for the style.

This is a great, standout example of a Blonde Ale. Very enjoyable, full of character, and stands head and shoulders above some other weak examples out there. Really liked this. It could use more hops in my opinion, but then again, why mess with a good thing?
