Notes: Mosaic Fresh Hop IPA is brewed with fresh Mosaic hops, picked fresh off the vine and immediately shipped to the brewery and put into the beer. Hops grow in a way to protect the Lupulin glands, which produce the hop flavors we love. Hops are traditionally pelletized which lock in the majority of oils for long term storage but removes some of the delicate flavors they can offer. Fresh hopped beers are a way for brewers to use hops in their purest form. Enjoy this farm fresh beer in fall just weeks after the hop harvest.

12oz can. Poured out a clear, golden orange color with a small, white head of foam. It smelled of citrus fruits, pine and toasted caramel. Sharp orange, grapefruit and pine taste adds bitterness with a sweet caramel finish.

Appearance: Pours a medium, clear orange color with a strong, white, sandy head. SRM of 11. (4.00)

Aroma: Huge aromas of tropical orange, guava, pineapple, peach, , mango, and melon. Intensely tropical. Leans airy, but not overly so. Lots of resinous tropical grapefruit. I would describe it as if you could concentrate all of the nectar out of a red grapefruit, pineapple, guava, and peach, and then fill a pool with it. (4.50)

Flavor: Flavor follows the nose with more red grapefruit nectar, pineapple, guava, peach. Then some melon resin to bring it down to earth. Pine and pith to support. Really nice tropical notes without being too strong. (4.50)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Good carbonation. Finishes with a nice pithy astringency on the palate. (4.00)

Compared to Fulton 300: Its slightly duller and darker orange. Its much more airy tropical pineapple. Less nectarine and dank. Stronger flavors all around and a better beer.

Overall: Wow I can see why people like this beer. It is so well-balanced. It has great tropical Mosaic notes. It's airy, but has enough tropical resin to make it earthy. It's not like other Mosaic beers I've had where it's either way too airy and pithy, or on the other hand it can bee way too dank and have black tea tones. This has neither of that and is incredibly balanced and flavorful. Really focuses on the tropical grapefruit nectar. The grapefruit is sweeter and not as tart which is unique. A masterfully-crafted tropical IPA. (Final Rating: 4.37)

Tasted in a Spiegelau IPA glass from a one pint can on November 17, 2018. Brewed with fresh Mosaic hops. Smell is strong yet very pleasant. Tastes of citrus fruits are somewhat more subdued.

awesome stuff, there is a reason everyone in minnesota is talking about this beer as one of the best wet hops in the game, i have to agree, maybe my favorite beer from these guys so far. its clear and rich brassy golden and frothy white headed from the tap, with a stunning aroma, even shocking, of mosaic, cleaner and fresher than i have really ever known it to be. they must use a ton of hops here, its oily and west coasty and kind of rich to me, loaded with lupulin and myrcene and all the other goodies in here, concentrated and intense for a wet hop, with just a pale malt base it seems, thats all that needs to be there. i get none of the now tired mosaic fruitiness, its elevated way beyond that pineapple citrus thing, and none of the cat pee character i sometimes get when its over dry hopped, its perfect here, a wonderful version of itself, an example to others i hope, so darn good. some bitterness to which is nice, but this drinks like a california pale ale to me, and i mean that as a high compliment. worthy of the hype, this is next level hoppy beer. others from outside the state have no idea what they are missing here, this should be in the national conversation. it really took my by surprise. ill look forward to this each fall when i am up north! as good as mosaic gets.

Pours on the yellow side of a clear amber with a white head. Good retention and lacing. Floral and slightly spicy hop presence on the nose with a touch of citrus. The taste is grapefruit and grassy notes in abundance, with a sweet malt presence to back it up. Drinks more like an APA than an IPA. Smooth, lightly carbonated, and medium-bodied. Great beer as always from Castle Danger.

Mosaic IPA pours a copper color, with a big long lasting and lacing head. Big fresh hoppy aroma, that can fill the room. Taste is big, hints of earth, lots of tropical fruit, grapefruit and big hop flavors that finishes sweet. Good body and feel. Overall fantastic IPA, big flavors, complex, does finish sweet.

Poured from a pint can 2 weeks fresh. Aroma is of melon and floral notes. Taste is Intense and pure mosaic at its best. One finger spongy head dissipates soon but laces nicely. Amber and slightly opaque. This may beat Sosus for the best mosaic I've had. Flavor matches the nose but is more intense. Creamy mouth feel with appropriate carbonation bordering Niro feel. Now having a second the next day and this is legit. The flavor is insane--one that the nose hints toward, but the nose isn't huge.

This beer pours a slightly murky orange with a large, uniform head. The aroma is bold and vibrant, with huge guava, passionfruit, honeydew, pineapple, mango, candied pineapple, and overripe apricot and peach. The flavor is still vibrant, but not overly assertive, with soft guava, papaya, candied pineapple, mango, and overripe peach. The mouthfeel is soft with creamy carbonation. Overall this is a pretty wow beer - the aroma is huge, but the flavor much more demure, all leading to a very drinkable, sensuous beer.

First purchase (10/17/17) of the 2017 offering (stamped canning date is 10/10/17).
Poured from 16oz can into glass.
Very slightly hazy, golden orange colored body, long lasting white head and cap, medium lacing.
Bright and prominent aroma, complex with citrus and pine, stone fruit, and blueberry.
Taste is also complex, with blueberry, bubblegum, piney, dank, citrus, and stone fruit.
Mouth feel is very pleasing, very quaffable at 6.8 ABV.
A well done fresh hop IPA. Difficult to remember from year to year but 2017 I judge to be better than 2016 and comparable to 2015. At the top of the Minnesota fresh hopped IPA's tried in 2017.

I bought a four pack of cans of the 2018 edition.
The taste has a lot of earthy flavors, and does not have the berry flavors from last year.
Overall, the beer is mellow, but has lots of good flavors involved (fresh earthy hops, and some contribution from citrus hops). Very low in bitterness.
This is an easy drinking IPA.

This isn't a great fresh hop ale, but it is good. An enjoyable fruity hop aroma with a juicy quality. Fruity and flowery with a background of the herbal/grassy quality, which never shows strongly. Cloudy amber and fully airy white cap.
Small hop flavors with a soft bitterness that tapers nicely on the finish and leaves some hop flavors allowing to linger too. Just enough malt backbone but no particular caramel sweetness. A smoother flavor than the aroma with less intensity of the fruit and flower and less juiciness too, but a pleasant hop flavor.
A bit less than moderate feel with a carbonation that enhances the flavor.
As noted earlier. Enjoyable but not outstanding.

Poured from a 16 oz can into a snifter. Canned 10/10/16.

A: Pours a slightly hazy, golden reddish-orange color with a small, foamy, paper white head with minimal retention. Very small amounts of thin white lacing throughout.

S: Aromas of tropical fruit and citrus consisting of pineapple, orange, tangerine, and grapefruit.

T: Nice juicy fruitiness with notes of pineapple, grapefruit, and orange rind followed by a nice mild piney hop bitterness.

F: Light to medium bodied, smooth, and crisp with good carbonation.

O: Overall, a great IPA. Nice fruity juiciness, but well balanced with a mild lingering hop bitterness. Super drinkable. Would like to try this fresh after canning it's probably amazing. Definitely will try this again.

Pours a slightly cloudy light honey color with a huge off white head that hangs around leaving great lacing. Aroma is fresh citrus. Flavor is more malt forward than I would have expected. Nice citrus hops and low bitterness. Feel is kind of watery, carbonation level is low. Overall only an okay thirst quencher. Wouldn't pay for this again.

Giving this a solid 4.0 but it is a tale of 2 different years, I never did review it last year. 2015 was bomber and 2016 is a pounder can. Both were good 2015 was superb the difference is the hop the mosaic hop used each year and/or amount.2015 was so fruity fresh and danky in the bomber the can not so much it is smooth and hoppy but showcases way to much malt. 2015 was delicate and so tasty with the hop(mosaic). The difference to me is that i wanted another bottle after finishing 2015 and went out and bought more, the 2016 one 4PK will be it for me not interested in another.

Blueberry, tropical and citrus taste that screams Mosaic hops, but is a little more subtle than I expected from a Wet Hop IPA. The mouthfeel is insanely creamy and smooth with a dry finish that is also surprisingly clean for a Mosaic driven beer. Very tasty and easy drinking, even if a titch too mild.

Timing is everything. I recently read an article about the rise in "wet hopped" beers -- those made with fresh, as opposed to dried, hops -- when I spotted this beer at the liquor store. I was already a Castle Danger fan; and figured they'd get it right. I was pleased beyond expectation.

The aroma? Wow. The first smelled mildly floral, something I don't remember ever noticing in a beer smell before. It smelled like fresh hop flowers, more earthy and flowery and somehow fresher.

I cannot say much interesting abut the look, it's a IPA on the lighter end of the IPA color spectrum, more yellow than amber. I like Castle Danger's beers; and this had the look and feel I expected.

The taste, however, was great. That earthy, flowery, fresh stuff from the aroma was right there in the flavor at just the right level -- not a whisper or a shout, just there improving the beer.

I should say I found the second bottle I bought to be a disappointment, suggesting there was some variability in the process. I bought six more bombers over the run and found all the rest to be wonderful. I experienced none of the sediment or cloudiness or off flavors discussed in other reviews.

Very hazy and a dark amber color. Lots of sudsy head that sticks around for a while. Smell is mild but hoppy. Hints of bitter citrus and green apple, with a slight detergenty scent too, and a bit of wet, slightly mildewed blanket. Taste is equally mild. Pine resin comes out a bit but overall, not a ton going on here. Only slightest bitter aftertaste, but I would almost prefer a stronger one if it meant a stronger flavor. It's a perfectly enjoyable beer and has some nice grassy undertones, but I must say I'm glad it was just an extra in a trade box, and not something I spent real money on.

Been hearing good things about this beer & finally could resist the siren song no longer today. Bought, fridged, popped. Split with my wife.

The pour is clear until you hit the sediment fault line - the bottom 1/3 of the bottle holds enough solids to build a small dam. Left, they settle slowly in the dim orange brew. The smell is juicy, a la a twenty seven fruit smoothie. I can’t pull any individual out, but it’s lovely.

Mosaic Fresh Hop IPA is the best fresh hop beer I had this year. The bitterness pushes to the fore without holding or clipping & is backed up by every light fruit known to man. Mango, pineapple, green apple, tangerine, melon can be teased out of the mix. Strong floral note & only minimal earthiness that I find so often kills my interest in fresh hops (do brewers wash the things?). I could take an entire of bomber of this if left by myself. For some reason, I’m not left alone very often. Especially with alcohol.

A very pleasant surprise; there simply aren’t enough bottled/canned IPAs in MN that can stand up to West Coast IPA standards, but this one can at least rest on the same shelf. A very good brew.

from a bomber (sitting in my fridge for two weeks longer than it should have due to a cold that wouldn't stop) into a tulip
clear beautiful honey gold color, with a big 2 finger off-white puffy head and great lacing, the nose is kind of earthy blueberries deep in the woods, the taste follows and also brings out some stronger piney notes as well as some citrusy mango and some toasty malts. The hops seem fresh and wet and pungent...I don't know if I'd describe them as dank, exactly. The mouthful is beautifully balanced between light and substantial, there is a definite sweetness between the berries and the citrus, but the bitterness is there at the back end, dries out quite a bit at the end, which I find a little odd for a fresh hop beer, doesn't detract from my enjoyment at all. Very nicely done!

Clear golden color with two fingers of head that slowly settled to a thin film. Heavy lacing is left down the glass. In the aroma I get a massive dose of floral notes. Never associated that with Mosaic hops before. Also pick up some melon, citrus, and mango notes. Taste is more familiar to what I am accustomed to in Mosaic hops. Dankness upfront with tropical fruit with citrus and pine. Not as oily as other fresh hop beers I have had this season. Moderate bitterness with a bit of sweetness from the malt but otherwise this beer is all about the featured hop. Good carbonation and light mouthfeel.

A-Deep gold...little head but nice lacing on glass.

S-Wonderful fresh hop aroma. Biggest impressions are floral notes, and juicy fruit a fruit cocktail almost..

T-The taste is magnificent as well.....fresh, fleshy fruit....big dark berry (blueberries, blackberries) impression but also light strawberries. The tropical fruits and citrus are featured as well with oranges, pineapple, mango...and to top it off I definitely get some juicy ripe pear from this...

F-Lower carbonation. Medium bodied.

O-Flat out incredible beer. I liked Surly Wet this year quite a bit but this is light years better. I highly recommend buying this if you see it. I will be on the search for more. I had a Toppling Goliath IPA with Mosiac (not fresh hop though) last night and this is much better. TG had a bit of catty notes to it with their mosaic bu this is all juicy fruit all the way. Very well done.

Dark straw colored, if it's not in the light almost bordering to ruby. One of the best smelling IPAs I've encountered. Bursts with fruity flavors when opened. Taste follows the smell. Straight up juicy fruit gum. Magnificent, lacking in carbonation but that could be because my growler was a week old. Easy top 5 IPA
