Notes:
Thunder Ann came about after a massive google search trying to come up with a name that we thought could represent our American Pale Ale. That’s how we found out about a little lady name Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett. She was Davy Crockett’s wife (well, in the folklore, according to Wikipedia, he married someone named Mary) and she was a bad ass. Seriously. Look her up. We mulled it over and thought that Thunder Ann could also be a pretty great name for a beer.

by dbrauneis from North Carolina
A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate copper + caramel + amber + brassy colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + floral hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + floral hops along with hints of spicy hops which impart a light to moderate amount bitterness which lingers for a moderate amount of time.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol though it lacks a little crispness that I would like to see in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable though overall this APA feels a little muted - could have used a little more ummph from both the malts and the hops in this one.

What is simple? 2+2? Yellow and blue = green. What comes up must come down... Yeah, and this Thunder Ann chick. I personally don’t think she would rassle a bear or something, but she’d puff puff give.
Ok, see ya.

Had poured from 12-oz. can, bottom stamped “066920198,” imported from Nashville by my roommate, into nonic pint.
Thunder Ann is a classic APA, fruity and malty, with a nicely drying if not bitter finish.

T: The taste has flavors of floral and citrusy hops along with underlying hints of caramel malts.
M: It feels nearly medium-bodied on the palate and has moderate amount of carbonation. No crispness is detectable.
O: This APA seems to be a little muted.

12 oz can from TN with a 21 Feb. 2017 canning date.
Hazy amber body topped by a semi-durable off-white head.
Aroma; dank tropical fruits. The flavor largely follows and includes some grassy notes and light funk. Mild bitterness that's typical for style.
Medium body with medium carbonation.

Overall: disappointing

This and Yazoo's Pale Ale are two of the best in Nashville. This is very drinkable and perhaps my favorite year-round beer that Jackalope produces.

Jackalope Brewing "Thunder Ann"
on tap at the brewery, 4 April 2015
Notes: Golden-orange body beneath a bright white head. Average retention and lacing. Clean but not bold nose of citrusy, piney, woody hops over a bready malt base. The flavor simply repeats the aroma. It's not bold, but there are some pleasant hops going on. Very even keel . Nicely balanced. Drinkable.
