Thunder Ann came about after a massive google search trying to come up with a name that we thought could represent our American Pale Ale. That’s how we found out about a little lady name Sally Ann Thunder Ann Whirlwind Crockett. She was Davy Crockett’s wife (well, in the folklore, according to Wikipedia, he married someone named Mary) and she was a bad ass. Seriously. Look her up. We mulled it over and thought that Thunder Ann could also be a pretty great name for a beer.

Appearance - Hazy dark copper with a 1 inch head a little bit of lacing.
Smell - Sweet, citrus aroma (Grapefruit and orange) with a nice malt base.
Taste - Citrus hop flavor supported by subtle notes of pine hops with a nice malt finish. There is a lovely balance of bitter, sweet, and citrus that creates an easy drinking ale.
Mouthfeel - Medium body, medium carbonation.
Overall - Jackalope’s Thunder Ann is a wonderfully executed pale ale with a lot to offer. The balance of flavors not only make this a wonderful study in the style of pales, but also an easy drinking beer that is great sip after sip.

I had a draft on Loews hotel in Nashville after a long day and more work ahead. Great rich amber color for an APA. Medium head. One finger. I think it was way it was poured. I like bold hoppy IPAs but wanted something lighter and this over delivered. Good hop taste. Not a hazy which was good. Definitely would drink again.

From City Brew Tours canned August 30th 2023.
It pours a clear amber gold with more than a finger of foam, with spotty lacing.
The smell is grapefruit citrus, toasted malt, seems this is going to be on the bitter side.
The taste is bitter and kind of malty. Grapefruit citrus with toasted malt, little bit of some tropical fruit, but mostly bitter. I like that in an APA.
Good mouthfeel.
I reckon that if you want a quite bitter APA, this one will satisfy.

Look: It pours golden and clear with a white head. Head retention is very good.
Smell: It starts with a pepper like aroma with citrus and cantaloupe.
Taste: It has citrus flavors with a touch of pepper and other spices. There are light cantaloupe flavors in the background with a touch of honey.
Feel: It has a medium body with neutral aftertaste.
Overall, it's a fairly easy drinking ale that is pound-able.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden honey in color with moderate amounts of active visible carbonation rising quickly from the bottom of the glass and moderate copper + caramel + amber + brassy colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense sudsy foamy light beige head that slowly reduces to a handful of small to medium sized patches of medium thick film surrounded by a large patch of slightly mottled thin film covering the remainder of the surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.
S: Moderate aromas of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + floral hops over the top of light to moderate aromas of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness.
T: Upfront there are light to moderate flavors of toasted + caramel + bready malts with a light amount of caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate flavors of citrus/grapefruit pith + citrus/grapefruit zest + floral hops along with hints of spicy hops which impart a light to moderate amount bitterness which lingers for a moderate amount of time.
M: Medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation.
O: Easy to drink with well hidden alcohol though it lacks a little crispness that I would like to see in the mouthfeel. Enjoyable though overall this APA feels a little muted - could have used a little more ummph from both the malts and the hops in this one.

What is simple? 2+2? Yellow and blue = green. What comes up must come down... Yeah, and this Thunder Ann chick. I personally don’t think she would rassle a bear or something, but she’d puff puff give.
Ok, see ya.
