I have no affiliation with this brand. Maybe it technically rates like 4.97 or something. But to suggest that this doesn't taste good is insane. And a lot of people rate it bad because it doesn't taste like traditional beer. To me, this is a fairly new style. I've had two other beers with tangerine taste. One is local at Cape Coral Brewing. You only get the faintest beer taste, but so what! As long as these beers keep their taste while drinking and don't get a flat taste, they're awesome! And this one keeps its taste. This is almost like soda. When it comes to this stuff, forget being like a wine taster. Leave that for your German/Belgian wheats and IPA's. This stuffs just good!

Juice tones throughout with a beer kick that presents itself in the middle and follows through. Very unique taste.

Taste Rating in Words: Just take orange juice and beer and pour them into your mouth at the same time. . . If it wasn't good, it isn't like that.

A: Extremely hazy red orange color.
S: Very inviting sweet tangerine/ citrus smell.
T: Tangerine flavor takes center stage masking anything else present in the beer. Stays present for a not completely pleasant aftertaste. Reminiscent of artificial orange flavoring.
M: Light fizzing but thicker than expected and clings to your tongue.
O: I believe the beer would be better when served extremely cold. It would be a nice choice for a beer drinker who enjoys fruity beers and the absence of any strong hops flavor. The aftertaste is it only real downfall of this beer.

For a fruit beer, this is much better than rated here. Nice citrus nose, and near perfect blending of fruit and wheat /grain backbone. This would be a nice summer thirst quencher.

Brings the hazy yellow pour, 1/2" white head. True to form, it brings some citrus and tangerine in the aroma. Can't name your beer with a fruit name within it and not bring some of the noise.

Taste follows the nose. Mouthfeel the same. Doesn't foray into that territory where you can't discern hops or grain. More grain, hops don't play much of a part here. Highly carbonated light body, not overly sweet. Perfume ish at times.

Poured from a bottle into a weizen glass.

Overall: I was hoping the tangerine would play an intriguing supporting role to a solid beer lead. Unfortunately, the tangerine came across really strong, a little artificial. The malts and wheat all but disappeared.

L: Pale, orange-hued, hazy, poor head that dissipated to barely a skim, no lacing at all. :(
S: Smells like part tangerine rinds and oils, and part artificial orange. The sweet orange soda smell is really fake and disappointing. No other smells present.
T: Half orange soda sweetness, half unpleasant tangerine rind bitterness (like the white part of the rind). The bitterness just edges out the rest making it mostly unpleasant. A barely-there malt taste pops in and back out again at the end. No discernible wheat characteristics.
F: Medium to light in body, noticeable carbonation.

My first offering from Lost Coast is at the perfect time of the year...

A tangerine-infused wheat beer that hits the spot on a hot day and warm evening. Out of the glass it has a decent amber color with orange highlights, though whatever head you can get out of it just dissipates quickly and there is no lacing to be had. I really enjoyed the strong scent of tangerines, but I do prefer when it's mixed with a hint (at least) of hops or malt - nothing here that I could tell. Quite a bit carbonated, more so than I like, but crisp and refreshing like a wheat should be. A decent taste, was hoping for something a bit more well-rounded, but it still remains a good sessionable beer on a hot day (or night.)

from a bottle into a shaker, pours an orange-gold with a very puffy 2 finger head that subsides after a few minutes...decent retention. Nose promises oranges and tangerines and is fairly potent, but fairly one-note and not entirely convincing. Then it falls off and something doesn't seem quite right..still citrus notes there, but not really balanced with any kind of convincing wheat. Like a flashy infusion without enough going for it into a base that needs a lot more. Wouldn't seek this one out again at all.

Tastes like Fanta unfortunately, too much sweet fruitiness, too fizzy, not enough beer character. Really disappointing compared to hoppy wheats which are some of my favorite summer brews.

First had at Rustic Eatery, Valencia, Cal., poured from 12-oz. bottle into clear plastic beer cup. Despite the "[i]nfus[ion] with the essence of tangerine," little evidence of actual fruit other than the aroma, characteristic of the best fruit beers.

Beer is a nice orange color with a fizzy white head that thinned out quickly. The smell is a nice blast of orange juice but you get a hint of the malts and wheat of the beer itself. It really does smell like you just squeezed an orange into your beer. The taste is very similar not much to it but the citrus flavors really come through well, just wish it had a little more. Felt a little basic. The beer had a nice clean mouth feel and fresh crispness to it.

I don't consider myself a beer snob, i.e. it doesn't have to taste like an IPA to be good. For example, I like Shock Top. But with the first mouthful of this beverage (I don't consider this "beer"), for the first time I knew I wasn't going to finish the rest of it, it's that bad. Tastes like a cross between what you would imagine as whale piss and cardboard.

Well first off this beer presents itself correctly with an orange color and has a soapy slightly off white head that dissipates quickly.

The smell is a blast of fresh squeezed oranges. I did pick up some bready notes on the smell but this really was overwhelmed by the orange citrus blast.

Taste follows the nose with the taste being almost like licking the inside portion of an orange peel. Not so sweet as it is pithy.

Mouth feel was light and has a crisp finish.

I liked this beer but was not totally convinced that I would go back for more. Maybe another bomber split with the wife may change my mind

For it's style, I'm super impressed. Kinda unique. Good aroma and color. Followed by a fine citrus taste with a comforting feel. A great summer brew for sure...

The label is cool, that's about all the good that I can say about this bru. Smells like your dirty bucket of pinesole mop water that you just finshed mopping your floor with. The taste comes in about the same. Huge let down, sorry.

Smells like diet Sunkist. Taste like a diet sunkist orange soda to, light orange/tangerine flavor and lots of carbonation. Not my style but had to give it a go.

Not good. Honestly, it's been a while since I had it, but I distinctly remember it being just plain ole' bad. Would not drink again. Avoid if possible, there are many, many choices better than this.

From bottle to glass mug. Orange amber colour with a difinent citrus aroma. Taste much like the smell slightly hoppy with citrus. Maybe too much citrus for some. Other wise a good smooth summer beer.

L: Unimpressive to say the least. The exciting and Picasso style bottle writes a check that this beer doesn't keep from the second you pour it. Head disappears immediately and the goes flatter than Kansas. Few bubbles, if any. Could be mistaken for watered down orange juice.

S: The smell isn't bad. Smells like orange, but isn't overpowering like a lot of fruit beers try to do. I can almost smell something spicy too but can't put my finger on it.

T: Its just bad. Hardly tastes like beer, let alone a wheat beer. Taste like old oranges in liquid form. It a bad base beer with bad fruit additions, or at least that what the taste leads me to believe.

F: Feels just as bad as it tastes. A quick citric burn and then a sticky mouth feelings. Drinks smooth enough, but I hardly want to swallow.

O: If you want something to add vodka to instead of your morning orange juice for a screwdriver, this may be the beer for you.

Tangerine Wheat - Lost Coast Brewery
I was a bit skeptical in trying this Tangerine wheat beer from Lost Coast because of some of the negative reviews. I was offered a bottle at a party during the Christmas/New years week. Believe it or not, I really liked this beer.
Poured from the 12 oz bottle into my pint glass and right away I was hit with a nice tangerine / tangerine peel smell and a bit of wheat. Not over powering, but just enough to let you know it is in there ! The color was a very nice slight hazy gold with a thin white head. The taste was better than expected. I am a fan of wheat beers and this one did not disappoint for sure. I would definitely order this one again !

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. The appearance is a pale straw color with a large white head. The aroma is citric and maybe some wheat. The taste is disappointing slightly citric and very watery.

Pours a clear, amber color. 1/5 inch head of an off-white color. Poor retention and poor lacing. Smells of strong tangerine, slight pale malt, and a hint of wheat. Fits the style of a Fruit / Vegetable Beer. Mouth feel is sharp and crisp, with an average carbonation level. Tastes of strong tangerine, slight pale malt, and a hint of wheat, hint of sweet malt, and a hint of wheat. Overall, weak appearance, fruit only aroma, decent body, but the blend is almost all tangerine.

I was iffy on trying this one but thought I'd give it a go anyway. Pours cloudy gold and orange with lots of bubbles and an okay head. And then this brew quickly caves in on itself.

Bubbles dissapear and this beer goes totally flat. Smells strongly artificial and displeasing to the nose, maybe a hint of some lemon zest but the wheat is entirely downplayed by whatever concoction of "natural flavors" was thrown in this.

The taste is a strange wave of citrus including but not limited to aluminum, cardboard, lemon, orange peel, tangerine and other "natural" flavors. The wheat base on this one goes completely out the window and you're left feeling like you bit straight into an unripe tangerine, peel and all. I can't feel a balance whatsoever on this one.

A very sweet beer and very tangerineey but overall a major disappointment for me. I guess if you love tangerines and a lazy base brew then you should give this one a go. I mean, I did.

-Spiegelau ipa glass. wheat with natural flavors.

A: Washy, dirty white soapy head is quick to dissipate over a dense, coppery orange colored body. Quick release of effervesce, clean topping and clean vessel.

S: Cutie tangerine sweetness, and perfumy. Smells a bit artificial though the label claims otherwise. Good strength, holds its own, but dare i say a bit unmanly?

T: Sweet breakfast juice, tangerine, canned manadrin orange, apricot and pear juice with some sweet pink grapefruit. Light tartness, you can definitly pick up on the wheat backing. Wet juicy tangerine finish.

M: Light bodied, juice like pulp feel, low range carbonation, light tangerine juiciness.

O: Drinks more like a breakfast juice, fruity with hardly any beer taste or flavor. I can literally drink this in place of breakfast juice and not feel guilty. Non beer fans should enjoy this, not bad flavor wise, though just does't have a real beer feel for me.
