Kinda darker motif, old Schoo pub kinda feel, with mostly high hi tables near a nice wooden bar, regular tables around the outside of the main room, some TVs with the game on, some outdoor seating also available...about a dozen quality options on tp and a more extensive bottle and can list, lots of slightly older school craft options, including several locals, notable a bunch from Bur Oak...which is a good thing...loads of quality food options, the burgers were well turned...worthy spot, run by people who know what they are doing...well worth a visit if in Columbia

Was there for a Christmas party December 2015. They have an awesome beer selection. The food was outstanding!!! Customer service was great too. Of course can only speak of it being they were only tending to our group but for sure would go back. Great atmosphere too!!

Probably one of the coolest bars around. The owners are awesome and down to earth. The food there is amazing. Beer selection always changing, and it is "the place" to get all the rare/hard to get beers. The best part about this place is that they have "tap cams" set up in their bar. If you want to know what they have on tap, just click the link.

went there last night for dinner and a few beers while overnighting in Columbia. Their Tap Cam inspired us to come here. wanted to try the local IPA from Logboat and they had an imperial IPA from Odell that made the decision easy.

Had the pork belly sandwich with the fried egg and avocado. Friggin' amazing! The two IPAs were pretty good, too. Must be getting more mature in my hobby, the food took precedence!

Matt the bartender took great care of us, too and was really friendly.

I would say a must go if you are in area.

Peace!

This is undoubtedly the best place to drink in Columbia. The 12 taps are filled with a great mix of national/international seasonals and hits and showcases of Missouri breweries (4 Hands, Schlafly, Rock Bridge, and Mother's get a lot of of tap time). Beer is always served in varied and appropriate stemware by knowledgeable and fun bartenders. There's also a large selection of bottles and whiskey. Look for the hilariously titled "Cooler of Shame" under the bar that houses the terrible macrobrews.

Atmosphere is modern with some brick and wood to give it trappings of an older pub (it was previously another restaurant and I understand they didn't make many alterations). The clientele is more mature than most bars in Columbia; I'm meaning a good mix of grad students and up. Much more relaxed and enjoyable than anything downtown.

The place calls itself a gastropub and it certainly lives up to that moniker. Regular can't-miss fare includes their glorious bangers n mash pasty (probably my favorite dish in town) and 44 Stone burger (easily better than anything at the other places in town known for their burgers like Flat Branch or Booches). Nightly specials usually incorporate beer as an ingredient.

They regularly hold tap takeovers showcasing a particular brewery and usually come up with a special menu for it.

The two owners usually circulate around the restaurant on the weekends and talk up the customers. You can tell this place is a real labor of love.

Best bar in Columbia and my regular haunt. Seriously a beer oasis in a rather dry area.

Update: Now 12 taps. Lots of big beers in the regular roatation. Also, offer an option for a 5oz "sampler" pour.

The atmosphere doesn't really work for me. It tries to be hip/upscale but it doesn't feel cozy like a "Public House" should. Most of it is left over from the previous restaurant but is still has really odd shaped tables and odd seating. The quality of beer is very good. There aren't any beers on the list that I would avoid. The service was okay. It was really slow but there wasn't anyone there either. The beer selection has improved since it opened. I had a Williams Bros Midnight Sun Porter and Moylan's Hopsickle on tap. There are a couple beers from the U.K. that I haven't seen in bottle shops around town. The food was delicious. The 44 Stone Burger is great with its pretzel bun. Everyone else enjoyed their food as well. This is a nice option to have in town - a place with really good food and some pretty nice beer options.

Have been to the 44 Stone twice now since it's opening earlier this year. The pub use to be home to a restaurant in Columbia that some found to be upscale, so the interior as already predetermined but efforts were made to give it more of a pub feel. There is a room off to the right when you enter that includes pub tables as well as some dartboards and a f'ball table (which would help if there were long waiting times).

The back wall is a large chalkboard that highlights all of their beers that they have on tap and in bottles, as well as and scotch/whiskey. Initially, when we visited, I was a little disappointed with beers that they had available (i.e., nothing besides your run of the mill beers that you could get in any other beer around town...just more of them to choose from) but the second time around the beer list had improved (handful of Stone selections).

What I liked most about the restaurant however was the food. We went with another couple (who also had a 1 year old in tow) and everyone seemed satisfied with everything they had ordered. The beer list could improve dramatically, but I would go just to enjoy the food! It's a nice addition to Columbia, and I hope it gets better with time!
